"having a god"? I presume you accept other gods to be as real as your "God" then Drich?
when and where did I supposedly write this? I clicked on the tab and it took me to a post, but nothing in the quote box looks remotely like what I wrote.
Quote:The only way one can foolishly assume God is fictional is if one believes that our ablity to explain how the universe works somehow superceeds God.
That's not evidence, drippy. That's you puking up the same old nonsense....AGAIN.
Science does not need god to explain how the universe works. Only shitheads need god to answer their questions.
Just because science can explain how the universe works, how in your geezerly estimation does that remove God from the equasion? What makes you think Science nullifies God?
A frequently cited but apocryphal interaction between Laplace and Napoleon purportedly concerns the existence of God. A typical version is provided by Rouse Ball:[9]
Laplace went in state to Napoleon to present a copy of his work, and the following account of the interview is well authenticated, and so characteristic of all the parties concerned that I quote it in full. Someone had told Napoleon that the book contained no mention of the name of God; Napoleon, who was fond of putting embarrassing questions, received it with the remark, 'M. Laplace, they tell me you have written this large book on the system of the universe, and have never even mentioned its Creator.' Laplace, who, though the most supple of politicians, was as stiff as a martyr on every point of his philosophy, drew himself up and answered bluntly, Je n'avais pas besoin de cette hypothèse-là. ("I had no need of that hypothesis.") Napoleon, greatly amused, told this reply to Lagrange, who exclaimed, Ah! c'est une belle hypothèse; ça explique beaucoup de choses. ("Ah, it is a fine hypothesis; it explains many things.")

To be honest me old I've lost interest in all this god bollocks for now. I pick up my new Octavia vRS tomorrow afternoon and I'm just working out where I can take it to test the launch control system and get 0-60 in 6.9secs.
I'll come back to your god stuff another time (or maybe never if I push it too far and end up in a human/metal mashed up mess).

When ever something bad happened to the weather or geology man has said "it's God's wrath we are sinning too much." then we as humans survived and went on. Countless examples of natural (and man made) disasters abound that even in the wake of scientific explanation was used to site God's displeasure. So God's wrath will have to be more than something that is naturaly explained. Now if a dude in robes comes down with no obvious way of flying and just starts blasting the world with his mind or what ever then you might see me start praying. Until then we can predict our own world end in at least a dozen different scenarios. No supernatural stuff needed. No amount of homosexuality will change when the meteor or super volcano will hit. Now our own actions and greed may kill us in other disasters that we CAN prevent. We should focus on that.
These are people who took the marxis philosophy about religion. However, the reason (for them) was so that they didn't have to share power. I am no fan of mass murder (not even christians) but one thing is for certain they did not do this in the name of athiesm. NO they did that to promote thier own power. the philosophy of the secular was to think for themselves wich was something that these people did not want. So these men do not represnt athiesm in esence but in the bible it clearly states that non believers should be killed, shunned, and in general be treated negativly. there is no such doctrine for the athiest. This is a common poke from the religious to the non religious but from what I've seen having or not having a god only brings about better behavior about 10% of the time (yeah there was a study). Why would God's wrath need to come in a form that can't naturally be explained?
How does our ablity to identify the tool of God's wrath make it any less from God? God is the God of the natural universe so why is He somehow omitted from using the things He put into existence for His purposes?
Or should I re phrase, Why/how does your personally antiquated idea of How god is supposed to work in the world 'limit' The Alpha and Omega from caring out his will?
personal antiquated idea of god was given to me by the good ol' american christian indoctrination....as usual.
Science says that there have been at least 5 major disasters in the geological history of earth which has wiped out 99% of all the species that have ever lived. We have very solid evidence of this. As far as we know these species did not have a moral compass. they lived, bred, and died. In the end the comet or what ever destruction came regardless of what they did. None of these events happened during our history in which all religions have been invented. As scientist examine these events it is clear that the events simply followed natural law.
Comes now the christain a mere 2015 (apx) years ago. He explains that these events are god's punishments upon us for immoral behavior. They like to use fear as a tool don't they. Now you are going to try to tell me that OUR moral behavior will start or stop that next comet.....defy the rules of gravity and hit us at the zeneth of our immorality. Yeah the norse believed that fenris swollowed the sun during eclipses.
Where logic, science, and the secular try to understand the universe the religious just wimp out and say "It's God it must be..."if they want to be lazy and not look deeper in to reality, fine...but then don't turn around to me and say "you have to believe like me or else..." that doesn't go well.

What a fun thread. Sorry about the disappearance after the OP, I've been swamped with real life.
Min, I always enjoy your quick responses.
Snowtracks, there's nothing I could add to whats been responded to already by my fellow enlightened ones. You have been served.
Drich, always the biblical gymnast. Your verbal contortions could make a pretzel barf.
professor, well, you just never really qualify for any measured response. Take a lesson from Drich I guess. Filthy apologists seem to get a lot of attention around here.
Pink, I like you. It was easy to see that you rattled Drich's cage. Whenever Drich starts throwing a lot of insults about your level of knowledge and education you know you've got him by the balls.
Esq, always eloquent and spot on.
Seriously, just a really fun read.

Randy, this meme you added says far more about it's author than it does about non-believers.
No atheist has ever used that line of reasoning and you should be embarrassed for having posted such a ridiculous "comparison" to the first/top meme. It smacks of desperation.
Most christians even the bible debunks the trinity, if they existed they would be all separate beings.
Even common sense would tell you that it is not possible to share consciousness.

Ah yes, the old Trinity debate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Drich is a supporter of the Trinity nonsense we've all been mocking him for since he arrived. I particularly enjoy asking him which set of Christians interpreted the Bible correctly.
As it turns out, here's yet another group of Gay hating, fundamentalists who OPPOSE the trinity nonsense:
From ChristianLiving101.com:
Quote:Knowing the truth is important. The trinity doctrine obscures the true nature of God. Satan who wants to be part of the Family of God forced himself to it and came up with the trinity doctrine. Satan authored this doctrine and now has pervasively believed by many Christians.
