I truly can't understand how, when presented with the copious amounts of evidence we have today, that anyone could - A big problem is that many people compartmentalize way too much. What I mean by that is, they acquire some information that answers one question, but do not allow themselves to logically follow through all the potential implications that this new information demands. It goes something like this: "Ok, according to science the flood couldn't have happened the way the bible says it does. But nobody can prove that god doesn't exist. Therefore let me forget anything unpleasant that was said about the Flood." Basically most people don't have the integrity to properly follow through with what such evidence means. The honest thing to do would be to say "hmmm, well, in light of this evidence, i have to accede the possibility that the Flood account in the bible is not literal, or at the very least, not translated correctly. But if that is the case, then it is at least possible that the other stories are also incorrect, not literal, or at the very least translated incorrectly. Which makes it at least possible that the biblical account of creation is not literal. Which means that it's possible that anything in the bible is prone to error, misinterpretation, or flat out fabrication. For all i know, the whole thing could be just fucking made up!" Nope, that takes too much courage for someone heavily emotionally invested. Should they get as far as doubting the legitimacy of the bible, it'll take them another 2 years to stop floating in indecisive limbo.

I had a creationist friend once. Yeah, it's better not to have creationist friends.

I am truly stunned by this load of mindless shit. So where are the fossil remains of these middle eastern kangaroos? If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71. (April 27, 2010 at 3:30 am)TheMultiverseTheory Wrote: I had a creationist friend once. Yeah, me too.The friendship came to an abrupt end after I threatened to punch his fucking lights out if he didn't quit his loud "Praise the Lords!" at every opportunity. Fortunately I live in secular society where it's considered ill mannered to wear your beliefs on your sleeve.(except sports of course) Such people receive little public sympathy. EG last year two street preachers were arrested in the city mall for harassing passer by with threats of fire and brimstone. They were extremely fortunate their ranting didn't upset a child. A parent of either sex would have decked them. They propose that downed logs from forests created rafts that animals could ride to their destinations after the floodwaters subsided. Theres one round the corner from me I'm ashamed to say. But being in england it was done on the cheap. They litteraly brought the local natural history museum and changed the labels.
