Daughter objects to prayers at school

RE: Daughter objects to prayers at school
In my school days all we had to do was sing the national anthem and be done with it. We were lucky that way.

So got the reply...

Dear Mr *****

Thank you for your email. It is absolutely fine for ***** to be excused from prayer and worship style songs.  The concert we are doing does have a two songs that mention God, and one is a prayer. The concert is based on our RE curriculum and citizenship as was mentioned in the letter that came home last week. Please do not hesitate to let us know if there are any other events you do not wish ***** to take part in.

Not much else she could do really I suppose. I notice that she capitalised god though!

Not sure I like the 'please let us know' bit. Like I'm just picking stuff out for a laugh that I don't want my kids doing, almost wrote back to say "No, everything else is fine as long as you don't include any fucking gods in it"

That's a fairly decent reply I suppose, although it does seem to miss the point somewhat.

I don't understand the connection between religious education and religious participation, though. That's a sneaky one. Something makes me think sex ed classes won't work on the same principle.

Smart kid.  Takes balls to tell adults they are full of shit AND do something about it.

This part makes my dad-paranoia go off. Sounds like they're now a little too willing to have her excluded from other activities. But then, how else would they word it. Probably just paranoia.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Apparantly a load of the kids were asking her why she left the class, her reply was short and to the point "I don't believe in gods". Kids were a bit dumbstruck by the sound of it, daughter is now a bit of a minor cult celebrity at school! Ha.

Her teacher also said he's looking forward to meeting me next week. It's great to stir folk up sometimes, especially for the right reasons.

Awesome! I'm so impressed Smile

I'd love them to try and ask you why, and get back a million times more than they bargained for Wink They're probably mostly people who have given the question no serious thought ever.

If you and she can save even one or two of those littluns before confirmation, it's worth it Big Grin   FSM Grin   Clap

Don't worry, my friend.  If this be the end, then so shall it be.
