Do atheists care less about swearing?

To me, it's not the words used that matter, it's the intent behind the words.

Have other people noticed such a trend? It does make some sense, in that I've found many religious people have problems with things that I don't consider of any importance.

Oh, I've definitely noticed it, you can't miss it.

Even the Theists who DO swear, do it consistently less than Atheists.

I think it's a cultural byproduct of Theism;

they believe they are being judged by an all-knowing invisible being who is privy to their very thoughts;

and for many of them,
I think that the stuff about which they worry about being judged over, most,
are things like their lust,
and how compliant they are to the rules;
(as opposed to worrying about how they're making the people around them feel)

I'm reminded of this meme:

so, anyway,

using words that allude to anything carnal (fuck, twat, cunt)
and certainly words that are blasphemous (goddamn)
or words that show a disregard for authority and decorum in general (shit, bastard, bitch)

...makes them uncomfortable.

So even though there's no actual edict in the Bible to avoid coarse language, that I can think of,
and even though they could curse without actual blasphemy,

I think it just generally goes against their culture of conformity and restraint and self-consciousness and fear.

My two cents.

Fuck 'em.

I love a good curse word.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I do all my posting from my phone and I find it rather difficult to post with the stupid fucking little keyboard.

You'll note I type entire words and not crap like "how r u?"

If you swear too much it loses its impact when you do.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.
