Read the damn fairy tale.  No one is going to heaven.  The best that you can hope for is a bunk in the giant golden cube called New Jerusalem, but only if you're a member of one of the twelve tribes of Israel.  And you'll be stuck on a waterless planet in constant light forever.

Next time poke it with the stick harder. For this ass maybe "Hey guess what, we all converted. Congrats. Come celebrate!".

Yeah, sorry about that. Bloody mobile and its over-sensitive touchscreen. I only winged him.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Why reference him at all, is what I was getting at?

A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

And thinking that people will come to your  senses. Senses that are based in material worth and flawed logic. That which only takes us so far. And that isn't far enough... by a huge margin! Because you don't have "all" the answers. No person does.

You know, it's funny you should say that, because we're the ones  who always have to remind Christians who come in here that no one has all the answers; it's rather a central tenet of a skeptic's point of view. We also spend a surprising amount of time explaining to people that we don't base our values on "material worth", but on evolved primate social instincts and human-made culture, just like everyone else does (though they often don't realize it). What I suspect you mean is that by rejecting your invisible SkyDaddy's rules, you think we cannot be moral. If you really stopped to consider that one for a while, you'd realize just what degree of asshole that makes you for even thinking, let alone saying, that.

As for calling us minority naysayers, as though that's some kind of slur, you should really consider a couple of things on this chart:
http://www.pewforum.org/2015/05/12/ameri...2_1_310px/

You might be speaking for yourself here.... but each one of you anti's have a different spin on your unbelief, opinions and sarcasm reflecting your states of hatred for God, and those who believe in Him. You see the "skydaddy" rules because He knows how to reach the masses with one message that unites. Whereas atheism is a convoluted message of negativity contrary to human nature. And a system that has no leader, direction or moral compass, dissolves into chaos and cynicism. Where there is no God, there are no rules or consequences. There doesn't need to be. Therefore, you cannot be moral in an atheistic society. Because each godless person has their OWN idea of morality. Nice try bub.

You don't seek anything more than you are able to see. That is your "material worth". And your "flawed logic" uses only subtraction to add things up. And what you perceive an "asshole" is everyone that disagrees with the hollow nature of atheism. I call atheism stupidity. At least agnostics keep open minds.

The "message" will never kill itself. That's just a dumb thing to say! You can't kill HOPE. Its the first thing on a babies face when its born, and last thing on a dying persons mind. And that has NOTHING to do with: culture, religion, church, atheism, magic etc. If you haven't noticed... its instilled our very being! Its unique, and vital to our humanity! But, you pass it off as you do Love, as a "chemical" in our brains. Well, IF indeed you were as logical as you pass yourself off.... why would these "chemicals" be necessary? To quote a famous character: "Its NOT logical." And if logic is to replace our flawed chemicals... why do we need any intimate social contact at all? Test tubes can create better specimens than physical contact. Qui? No, you have it ass backwards. Logic is flawed, and Love and Hope are REAL! Science and logic are uncertain. Love is exact.

No, its not a religion, church or even pope that keeps people believing... its the message. Like you, I don't think any person created the message of: Peace, Hope and Love. It was created by God. We are not smart enough for that. But the irony is: If atheists and religious, just held that concept ALONE, we wouldn't be wasting our time arguing with each other. And to push that irony a step further? That is what Jesus wanted us to do! To love each other, unconditionally.

I'll take the first step here. Peace brother! Smile

That may be the biggest load of horseshit ever dropped off on my rhetorical lawn. Wow.

The "chemicals" (why the quotes?) in our brains are known because we have tested and measured them, watched them functioning in fMRI studies at their known interaction sites in the brain, and are basically how the brain operates. I don't even know where to begin on the "love is exact" cowpatties. Your magic-based outlook appears to have warped your thinking processes.

I say "asshole" when you deliberately misrepresent atheism and atheists, even after you have been told by us how we actually are. It's a pretty basic definition of an asshole. If I went around saying that you Bible Idolators secretly read the Satanic Bible for your rituals, even after you told me that no such thing is even close, it would make me an asshole because it's not true, and I refused to listen to you tell me how it actually is.

"One message that unites" may be one of the most hilarious phrases I've ever seen you of you Bible Idolators use, since it's pretty clear that the thousands of Christian sects, none of which agree with one another, have very different ideas of what that "unifying message" actually is, and you've proved quite willing to kill one another over that in the past. Ask an Albigensian Christian.... oh wait, you can't. They were murdered by their fellow Christians for heresy. That's not even counting the fact that there are three entirely-separate religions based on Abraham, who kill one another almost endlessly.

I won't even bother to address the asinine claim that one cannot be moral in an atheistic society. I'll just leave you with a summary:

Let's analyze these supposed attributes of god's message...

Unifying? No, history shows Christianity has been one of the most divisive ideologies in history.

Hope? Yes, as in "hope he doesn't burn your ass for eternity."

Love? Yes, as in "love me or go to hell."

Looks like Yaweh went 0 for 3. He's the Chicago Cubs of deities.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
