There is zero difference between pastafarianism and any other religion's claims to truth.

Being a pastafarian was fun... I was one for a while. Shits on all other religions.

Well, just a quick update, then I'd like to pop into the normal forums and i want to start asking questions. I'm also gonna change my name to something more appropriate now too, and try to get a bit more active on the forums....
I think I'm still kinda leveling out, (from being manic) but i can tell I'm definitely not as "excited" as i was (i was thinking about how i wanted to go out and de-convert everyone i met lol). But I've had a couple sessions with my therapist and I'm back on my medication now and feeling much better) but i can't un-realize what I've already realized. I'm just trying to understand why a greater majority of the population hasn't yet come to this conclusion as well. Have i missed something?
Anyways, thank you for welcoming me into the forums, I hope to learn much here.

Heya, it's great to hear from you again! Levelling out sounds good I hope you stick around. Unlike religion, we're not going to expect you to believe anything just on our say so, and will encourage you to think and research on your own.
For those of us who are on the outside, whether they were always there or fought our way out, it does seem trivially obvious that it's all childish nonsense. There are many reasons people continue to believe, it's just they are not (what I consider) rational reasons. Also, what people profess to believe and what they actually believe are not always the same.
Number one on the list of reasons is indoctrination. They are literally programmed to believe this stuff is true beyond question, and their minds will fight tooth and nail to preserve this state of affairs. This is often supported by such things as fear of death, discomfort with not having a simple explanation for everything, and the need for there to be some sort of cosmic justice.

It's always fascinating to hear directly from a fresh deconvert. I'm glad you're okay. Also, please reach out to others if you ever feel suicidal again. I don't mean to sound too intrusive here, but just keep in mind that we're only human and life can get pretty dark sometimes. We can count on others at times though, and that's important to know.
