That disgusts me on several levels:

-It implies that virginity is some sort of gift
-It implies that this gift belongs to her father
-It implies that her vagina is magical because it's never had a penis (or a cucumber or a table leg or what have you) inside of it
-It does not rule out anal or oral or surreptitious handies under the table (hey, you know you were thinking it)
-It implies that there is something wrong with sex and she is not ruined
-It implies that a woman being sexually inexperienced is somehow important (but a man's isn't)
-It implies that she is not capable of being truthful so needs medical proof
-It implies that the status of her vagina is her father's business
-Her proof somehow buys her father's approval
-A doctor would actually agree to examine someone and sign a certificate of virginity

I love it that the dad thinks signed certificates like this actually mean anything.

I remember watching some movie about McCarthyism, and a man accused of being a Communist sympathiser refuses to sign a loyalty oath, saying "If I was really a Communist in this situation, do you really think I'd hesitate for a second to sign this?" It feels like it's the same thing here.
