Really? I'd think that it would burn too fast.

Great article. Worth reading to get an idea of what a joke so many atheist clergy are.
OP no just no Atheists are more close to reality than theists are.

The old ones with the onion-skin type thin paper worked great. The newer ones use a paper that is very harsh; the prisons and jails figured out quickly that inmates were using them (called "holy-rollers", especially when used to roll up marijuana or the more-common K2 and its sub-variants, for guys who want to try to stay ahead of the "testing-for-this-chemical-in-random-urinalysis-tests-now" curve, some of which chemicals are quite dangerous to the inmate who wants to relieve the mind-numbing boredom, in there, surrounded by loud and thoughtless people, and not want to choke people out), and switched to something that is inferior to its predecessor by a wide margin.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

It's really quite simple, Deli. It's what I coined as "Abelard's razor":

Obviously there's more of a need for organised atheism in the US than there is in most parts of Europe. I understand my atheism as individualism and certainly don't feel the need to be vocal about it or to join some group. But then again, religion doesn't play any public role hereabouts.
Looking at it from the outside, I have the same problem with groups like the atheist church, I have with any religious organisation. Which is the attempt to enforce their worlview on others.
Don't generalize too hastily from Austria and Germany. I can think of a whole host of European places where atheist activism would be useful, if only to give atheism a new modern voice that helps dissociate it from communist dogma . Poland, former Yugoslavia where religious discrimination is rampant bezween confessions and religions, and atheists could provide a sane voice of reason. Russia and Turkey, since their western parts are Europe. And the Churches still have too many privileges running Institutiond and influencing politics in Germany, Ireland...

I actually like Edward Feser. I've spent hours in the past reading his blog posts on Aquinas and other topics. But after re-reading the article presented the only conclusion I can make is "so what?" I don't feel any compulsion to defend the "new atheists." It is up to the individual to present a compelling argument in the best possible manner, and I don't see that manner as being required to be the actual substance of the argument.
Suppose I tell a theist of a Biblical inconsistency or a flaw in Aqunias's reasoning, and as a result of my effort the theist goes back over the material carefully in order to frame a rebuttal. Imagine in the course of investigation that the theist then reconsiders his own position, perhaps not even in regards to the points I have made but in corollaries reexamined. If such causes the theist to question the theology, is not my agenda served?
Some may question the intellectual integrity of such manipulations, but in my experience the deepest wisdom comes through self-realization. Besides, this is war; we're not at war with Edward Feser, but rather the Ray Comfort brigade.

I just checked my intellectual atheist current account. It says I'm at -240,000. Shit! I barely pull in 100 intellectual points a week, and all this disbelief costs more than that.
I guess I'm filing for bankruptcy.
