EDIT: Hes got a podcast now? I feel old.
Read his political essays on Iraq and torture from the first decade of this century. Watch the interview he gave Cenk Uigur. The whole uncut 3 hours, so there's no manipulating. I did, and I don't respect Harris at all for the above.
Harris constantly points out how violent the muslim book is and denies that the OT contains at least as violent passages. That's either uninformed or totally dishonest. Either way, Harris is a propagandist, who's rather leaninng to the right on most issues.
The only instance where I considered what Harris had to say, were his comments in "The god who wasn't there".
I watched that interview too. It seemed to me that Harris wasn't saying it had more violent parts in it than the Bible, simply that it had nowhere near enough push back from contradictory verses promoting peace. It becomes extremely difficult to stay within the confines of the text without being violent or having a violent world view.
The contradictions in the Bible we're keen to point out are actually a huge part of the reason why Christianity calmed down. You give anyone whos even half rational a loophole they'll choose the easier path of peace to heaven rather than the path of genocide and war.
If a similar change doesn't occur then there will be no calming down.

That's interesting. Very interesting. So is it the general consensus that the bible is more contradictory than the Quran? I'm very familiar with the bible, but much less so with the Quran. The bible is one long tangled web of contradictions, so that any required outcome can be easily supported. Maybe not so much with the Quran?
If that is indeed the case, I can totally see how Christianity would be easier to muzzle. Give people loop holes and they will slither through them to fit the situation.
Wow. I'd never considered this before.

He's not only honest, incredibly intelligent, articulate and a brilliant, brilliant writer but he sets himself apart from the rest by publicly speaking out against Islamism when clearly it's such a poisonous and controversial subject. And what does he get for that. Idiots upon idiots who misrepresent his views, I would argue almost knowingly, and try to smear him as much as they can at any opportunity. This is a disgrace and it's as destructive a mode of operating as religion itself.

He's also extremely brave, I wouldn't be surprised if at some point he had to go into hiding for being so outspokenly anti-Islam.

I would say so too. Did you listen to that full video I posted?

Yes, I already did, right after it came out. He kind of lost his composure there for a moment. I don't even know why he talked to Kyle, to be honest. I find him annoying in his intellectual cowardice and short-sightedness.

See, this is kind of annoying. Nobody really cares that you found it boring. But, hey, please let us know when we obviously don't care. That's just great. Keep those useless statements coming. Cancer isn't going to cure itself, you know.
Sorry, boring.

He did already, to some extent. He's taken security measures and he is keeping his and his family's locations secret.
Why do you think he practices jiu-jitsu and owns guns?

Ah so I didn't imagine that. I was gonna say I was pretty sure he had already gone into hiding but if I was wrong I would have looked like an idiot lol.
Well he does jiu-jitsu for other reasons too. I didn't know he owned guns but I'm not surprised.
