As someone who suffered a terrible break up last year that involved lying and other stupid shit I didn't deserve, I can promise you that no "gotcha" moment actually gets justice for anything.

So if you're stuck on believing that he was in the right, that's fine, but fuck off for deciding we're kill joys for not thinking the same thing. Perhaps it's a maturity difference, or perhaps it's an age difference, or maybe it's simply a difference in values. Apparently the majority of us handle our relationships in a more private way and don't find shaming someone publicly like this to be adequate recompense in any fashion for what we might have suffered.

How could they possibly have a rational basis? What would that even look like...

I agree I'm pretty sure ultimately it's all irrational, "Why do you like X?" "Because I like Y." "Why do you like Y?" "Because I like Z", and so on until it comes down to you don't know why you like what you like. It's all irrational and I think a lot of what you like or dislike is because you associate it with something else you like or dislike, but it all ultimately boils down to irrational passions.

Just because you would feel no sense of justice does not mean others would too.

Yeah this goes to what we go into a relationship for in the first place. Is it really just to get the exclusive sexual use of a person we find attractive? Or does it involve any genuine regard/concern for that person? If I ever cared for her, why should I want to traumatize her or cause her to have even more difficulty making a relationship in the future? To do so does yourself a violence as well as her. Everyone understands the appeal of revenge. I just don't advocate it since it rarely satisfies.

What they're feeling isn't justice. You can't get recompense for the time and energy lost.
