I have private coverage and a long term existing relation with an excellent therapist so I'm good in that regard. The VA and I parted company some time after the first gulf war.

In any case, I'm managing at least minimally, I'm not engaging in self-destructive behaviors. Most just trying to do what needs to be done. It weighs heavily though.

I used to think parenting was merely difficult.

I hear you, bud. My son's had some troubles in his adolescence, though nothing so severe, and even those issues could and did tear me up inside ... and all the while having to hold it together for both him and his mother.

I'm glad to hear you have a good therapist in your back pocket. Hopefully you two can get together soon so's you can get his or her thinking on the matter.

We've never talked, and only texted the once, but even from reading your posts here, you strike me as one hell of a man, and though these times are tougher than anything I've had to deal with, I've got no doubt that difficult though things are, you'll come to grips with them constructively. Can you believe this shit?   My 14 year old attempted suicide by asphyxiation on Monday and on Friday they're saying he doesn't need to be in the hospital - because he is ashamed to verbalize his feelings of self-harm and that particular checkbox can't be checked.

Oh my fucking god, CD. I've been debating asinine shit in this forum all day and didn't even notice this. Fuck the insurance company. You can deal with that later. When I was hospitalized, I dealt with the financial shit later. How can they say someone who tried to kill himself is not suicidal after a couple of days? They can't. You're doing the right thing.

You're right, they can't. They tried pressuring us into filing the last appeal already. You know why, of course. I'm calling their bluff... He stays as long as his care team says he needs to.

Kinda sad cuz I can't play San Andreas or any ps2 game for that matter on my ps2 because it doesn't work anymore. I'm feeling nostalgic for the countryside of that game. I loved going up the mountains, messing up the dirt roads, literally the closest thing I'm gonna get to living in Texas or Nevada. Sure I can boot up GTA V but it'll never have the same nostalgic feel. Ain't it funny how being nostalgic can make you get more immerse in a game than a new one with all the shiny updates.
