I think his interpretation might be a little shaky. I don't really read it that way and it seems like a stretch. Also you have to remember that the old testament wouldn't give people instructions to convert anyone. The Jews don't want there to be more Jews and have never been into conversion. It takes away from the specialness of being the chosen people I guess.
