Could atheist westerners, please explain?

The Arab/Israeli conflect is a battle, where Arabs got defeated, militias of humans identified as Zionist & Jewish, invaded the land of Palestine, and installed a religious government -claiming secularism-, and chose a religious symbol as the flag of the state.

The Balfour declaration saw the creation of two states in Palestine. There's no doubt that the first aggressors were the Arabs.

It doesn't defend what Israel did and is still doing during these last two decades. But it certainly puts things into perspective when it comes to the roots of the conflict. Also don't conflate Zionist with overall jewish. The Zionist movement was nationalist but left leaning, almost socialist in nature. It has nothing in common with the settlers of today or the religious nutters being part of the Israeli government.

Religion poisons everything? Why keep banking on a belief of fantasy vs others fantasy? You should be asking that to other religionists. Atheism is the disbelief in gods, why do you direct your question to the minority?

You won't find too many atheists who are big fans of Israel. That said, The Arabs helped create this monster by trying to wipe them out when all they wanted was to be left alone.

Honestly, I wouldn't shed a tear if a large meteor wiped out the entire Middle East. I think the cultural loss would be worth removing what I see as a big set of mental chains that hold back the human race as it tries to grow up.

All religion is stupid. All of it. Judaism and Islam and all the rest.

All violence carried out in the name of religion is horrific and I wish it would stop.

Oh and yes, the Torah or whatever it's called is a disgusting, barbaric book just like the Quran.

But I'm not condoning either of those books or spreading the myth that they are "the word of god". So what has this got to do with atheists?
