Point being Trump's behavior last night is fine for REALITY  TV or Jerry Springer, but not ok in office.

He is not in office. Yet.

I have been paying attention to politics for 30 years now, and even with all the hate aimed at Obama, I have never seen one politician manage to turn politics into schoolyard garbage.

Trump is not a politician.

Trump is not in office yet, but when you have the GOP even saying he is turning it into Jerry Springer and I agree, he has NO  business being in office.

Why don't I run, well, first, I don't have the money even if I wanted to, secondly I don't like being polite all the time so I wouldn't be able to do that job. I like Bill Maher but as much as he and I agree on economics, he is not a politician so if he ran against Bernie or Hillary I would find that context inappropriate. 

You forget context. Trump isn't on TV merely entertaining people. When you run for office, you are not only a diplomat, you are sworn to uphold the Constitution, and not just those who voted to put you in office. Non politicians, especially media, are supposed to be critics, satirists, provokers and even blasphemers. 

Trump doesn't understand what a politicians roll is and the context of his bombastic, xenophobic language while even outside being a politician is garbage, he's playing a dangerous game mixing that with politics, he is no longer just a celebrity entertainer.

This isn't JUST ABOUT HIM, this is about what he is doing and how he is doing it and the context of situation he is in. And again, as much as I hated Bush Jr, and as bad as I thought both McCain and Romney were, not even they sunk to Trump's level. It is simply DANGEROUS and would be a dangerous tactic 100 years ago and would be 1,000 years from now.

He isn't "telling it like it is". He is literally using demagoguery and fear and scapegoating. Now do a little research on any despot in history that has risen to power, that is what they all do. Now do I think Trump even if he won could suddenly become a despot? No, but long term if all our politicians left or right all start behaving like him, our system will either collapse or simply be words on paper in name only. This is not just about him, this is about the tone he could set long term and his tone is very dangerous.

The American political party system has been in positive feedback (that screaming sound you hear when you have an incompetent sound engineer) since Regan brought the psychotics evangelicals into the tent in 1980.  We thought Sara Palin was an ignorant ideologue in the last cycle.  Drumpf is worse, going from accidentally wrong to intentionally wrong, openly lying.
Having pegged the meter on the far right third rail, Drumpf looks to be about to explode the Republican Party (of spinning Lincoln).  
Either he'll be the candidate and, though there HAVE to be better Presidential alternatives, at this point none can run, Clinton will win because Drumpf is such a nut
or the GOP might schism.  
With Drumpf running as an independent, the entire Republican Party of authoritarian candidates and their groupies becomes split and ineffective.  The party elite understand this and are very scared--- Witness the new attack ads from the Club (stick with which to hit) for Growth.
Initially I thought Drumpf was only in it to be paid off to get out.
Now I entertain the thought that he's using his unexpected success to sabotage other members of his cohort by ensuring a sweeping Democratic victory.

There was a letter to Adams from Jefferson, where Jefferson was responding to Adams complaining about BOTH the left and right media of their time, which would have been only newspapers, but Adams complained that society was not "respecting" either's politicians. Jefferson, in much more polite prose than I am about to sum up her basically said "What? Are you fucking nuts? Adams, we fought a war and basically gave the King a polite "fuck you" so that people could criticize us, even blaspheme us"

Now having said that, when in office NEITHER would have done what Trump did. And since day one Obama was called a tyrant and the worst he gave Trump was that video of the Lion King at the press dinner poking fun of Trump's Birther crap.
What Obama did not do is say "Trump you are an idiot" in the moment, even if he thought it, he wouldn't put it like that, because when you are in that position, YOU DONT TALK LIKE THAT.

And even Bush never did things like that. Nor did Bush's press secretaries. Nor has Obama's press secretaries. BECAUSE YOU SIMPLY DON'T DO THAT in office. Nor should ANY politician left or right, even running should do that. LEFT OR RIGHT.

It is about rolls and where you do things, Trump is damaging that concept which can erode the concept of peaceful transfer of power.This is more a lesson on civics, he is simply currently a lesson on what NO politician left or right should do. Non politicians are a completely different story and have far more leeway when it comes to language.

I would hate to think what Trump could do to freedom of the press and free speech if there were no Constitution to protect me. Even in office if he tried, there still would be lots of recourse to stop him. But he wont make it to the white house in any case.

Yep KUSA really doesn't get it. We are only using Trump as an example because he is currently the one in progress. But again, when you see in any point in history, a politician using fear to scare the crap out of that population, bad things follow. 

It is actually the same scare tactics the books of Abraham use as literary devices , "They will try to deceive you", "If you don't listen to me bad things will happen", "I'm the only one who can protect you". "They are out to get us".
