More warriors, even better, thus the greater value of male children. Refusing to breed was a crime against the tribe more than it was an actual abomination.
Considering that the age of reason did not occur till much later, this is interesting to me.
I'm not sure I'm following, Kitan. I was referring to ancient Hebrews . . . about the time somebody was finalizing the writings that would become the Torah, including the labeling of homosexual acts as crimes deserving of death. Elaborate?

I was making the correlation that early Judeo-Christian religion still held much primitive thoughts in their minds, such as the need to breed in order to survive even though mortality rates were certainly greatly decreased since neanderthal times.

Then it's illogical for it to be a sin, so they reinterpret their scripture and say: no, the sin was acting upon the desires. I can be wrong, but I've seen such happen in many instances. Anyway, some people above have said good things against the statement that only acting upon the desires is a sin.
From what I understand, the people of the bible didn't have a conception of sexual orientation like we do today, so what they objected to was the act. It's probably an overlay of more recent culture that the orientation itself is wrong or sinful, if it derives from Christianity at all.
In that case many christians interpreted the bible wrong from first place I assume?
Imo that is a problem with religions, so many interpretations since they aren't supported by evidence can make it hard to argue against some points in some cases. But what you and SteveII said makes sense that the act itself is the sin. But I'd say that being a sin is still bad. Some in the thread have had good arguments/points against why the action being a sin is still bad.

Yeah...
Trying to justify irrational hatred without just saying "eww" or "bible says so" is painful to watch. The "arguments" make me facepalm so hard a palm tree grows out my face.
We're suffering from severe overpopulation, yet a dick in the wrong hole is accused of being AWOL from the constant need for reproduction.
