It's too quick, too late.
You don't get to drop 300 years of Wahhabi brainwashing, in the matter days. The system in the kingdom itself is corrupted; thus any positive change is very hard, considiring the corrupted system; their youth don't know how to work; used to spend in a very lavish way, their religious mentality is messed up and they know how to lie about it, racism is taught as a custom...etc.

I don't personally believe that the society will hold..the quick change will tear it apart.

Aoi Magi

I personally believe he might purchase their asses.
Especially Trump, being capitalist, would he let the Chinese & Russians buy the stocks of the Saudi Oil Company? that's in case he won; anyways. and I know for sure that suck decision are mainly taken by experts; not individuals like him.

All their money is under the control of other, BTW Smile

Minimalist

No! When God doesn't bring money like he used to do, ditch and seek another source of income (like, selling your one and only precious commodity in the international market)??

If you foresee a civil war, then I'm with you in your vision..

Quote:This is why I love you Atlas. I love the news out of Saudi. Hopefully all of the Fascist Imams and TV personalities they fund will starve to death now because they won't be able to get real jobs. They deserve it for the hate they've spread.

Your name will come to be, becoming " NMP" Big Grin

Wikipidia added an article about it; too small:

"His Highness" xD you can wonder...

Quote:But "cheap version of Las Vegas"? Weren't you just telling us how expensive Saudi is? Hopefully you are not impacted too much. If you ask me, which nobody has, I think Mecca should be an independent city like Singapore, or more like the Vatican. No country should control Mecca. It's best for everyone.

That is for Mecca; not the country, the country is not holy. The objection is that they turned the city into a complex of crowded tall building, with symbols of modern capitalism -such as Starbucks, Mcdonalds and the sort- opening up at every turn, with fancy hotels replacing the simple motels, it's Las Vegas without the gambling, hookers and casinos, a perfect place for capitalist fat cats to rob the pilgrims. I mean, at least give Muslim coffee makers the chance (just like Italy puts the Italian coffee makers and food makers at the top).
Actually, it's worst than Las Vegas, because there's a fine for coming and committing the "Haj"; actually you need a licence before doing so. It has nothing to do with security reasons since their problem -as with the grand mosque incident- actually comes from the natives inside the kingdom, not from the almost-naked piligrims visiting from outside.
I have more respect for Christians and Italians for beholding their holy city as truly holy..

Quote:Maybe they'll have to stop have segregated hospitals, schools and universities now to save money? I could not wish for better news out of Saudi. Maybe Peace TV, Guide Us TV and Huda TV will finally get shut down. Like with the crazy Christian channels in the United States, very few people watch them any they are kept alive by a handful of billionaires.

Yes ! it already started to happen, not officially but it's already on the move, I'm feeling so hilarious because I wanna hear the opinions of wahhabies who used to call the kingdom "Islamic and not tribal; holy and should not be questioned", I really want to see the supporters of segregation and callers for the murder of gays after the changes that the Sauds "were forced to make" in the 2030 vision xD
Wahhabies got their asses kicked, by their own creator. That's what happened.

Word to the wise, all "holy" places end up looking like Vegas, and for the same reason, that it's easier to gull the foolish when they're distracted by all the shiny.

Oh, and why are you so enamoured of a polytheistc fetish object?

I got to Italy a lot, as you may know. Yes, they take care of their antiquities. They have very nice Churches and Synagogues (especially in Florence). The big Mosque in Rome has nice gardens around it. Conversely, as you say Saudi just sees such things as something to make money from. And I can tell you American interpretations of  food, such as their versions of Pizza, do not sell well in Italy.

If you go into one of the many Catholic Cathedrals you get asked to be a bit respectful, cover up your shoulders for the duration of your visit, and maybe donate a little money to keep it free to enter as they need the money for upkeep. If you go to the Vatican you will not find literature telling people Protestants or the Eastern Christians (e.g. Copts, Armenians, Assyrians and Maronites) are terrible and evil. But this is exactly the sort of thing we find in Mecca.

This a great interview explaining that (very sad that Yasir Qadi has appeared on Peace TV in the past, because he seems quite nice, but I think he's renounced that phase of his life):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLvsQA1oaCg

I'm not sure Wahaabi-Salafis will 'disappear overnight' but the oil prices are great news for the silent majority. I'm starting to think that Turkey is taking the place of Saudi when it comes to financing hate. When these Wahaabi-Salafi scholars appear in the TV and are asked to condemn Rajm (stoning) the beheading they always say things like "Saudi and Iran do not have true Sharia" and they don't really condemn . Obviously, they'd say Shias are wrong on the Sharia but they really do struggle to say stoning is bad, etc.

One of these days, maybe a guy from the Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith not Wahaabi, supposedly even though these Ahl al-Hadith are just like Wahaabis) Mosque will do something nasty to the Sufi Mosque in my town because Salafis are always up to no good. They are like the black colour from the game I recently started playing, Magic: The Gathering. A lot of people thinks that the black colour is always evil but the black colour will do good things if it means it gets what it wants in the end. The way it plays is that it does whatever it takes to win. This is exactly like Salafis

You can see videos of Salafis pretending to go good things on YouTube like talk to help elderly people or clean up streets but we both know that this is to try and distract from how evil they really are. They also like the make a point of talking to homeless people and this is easy Dawah to them. Taking advantage of the desperate situation like "I'll give you food if you allow me to brainwash you". And al-Saud builds all these Mosques under the guise of friendship and they will fly in all these dangerous Imams.

It's disgusting. So I am very grateful for the positive news. This should mean fewer Wahaabi-Salafi Dawah Tables and certainly less holidays (because that's what they are) to exotic destinations for the personalities , where they pretend to "educate" people.

EDIT:

And just to add, take a look at the comments in the video below:

" Yasir Qadhi Bad-Mouths Saudi Arabia on Iranian Press TV "
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQ2CEDnnR70

e.g.
"He goes on a TV channel run by the rafida shia and criticizes the land of tawheed. The Tony Blair influence is in his blood"
and
"i hate this guy. may allaah paralyze his tongue ameen"

Atlas's Journals:
Monday, May 9, 2016

There are no jobs. Oil prices have increased, going out costs a lot nowadays. The high-standards of living has begun to vanish, the advent of this crisis brought a grim atmosphere that is dropping its shadow on the society.

The royal regime was hit so hard by the last drop in oil prices; the kingdom that almost have no source of income except the profits coming from oil extraction, had to kneel and immediately declare a change of tactics, under the name "vision of 2030".

Vision of 2030 includes giving up on the Wahhabi//Sunni faith that the kingdom always advocated -since its citizens have literally became furious with the faith and incapable of keep practicing it-, the infamous "Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice" will face strong restriction and it won't be able to move freely like it used to move; the pressure of certain western movements (especially in Britain) and the broadcast of many controversal videos, embarrassed the royal regime that used the " "Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice" for so many years to terrorize the population and keep it under control; keeping it isolated from the outside world, and punishing even the smallest acts -like getting a haircut or wearing bracelets- with lashing and torture.

The economical face of "Vision 2030" will sell the country's own & only commodity: oil extraction, by offering the main oil extracting company (ARAMCO) for sale, to the international private sector. It's as if the U.S have sold its whole fortune of gold to China, or Russia sold all of its natural gas to the NATO. In other words; they offered the whole desert kingdom (along with its citizens) for sale. Thus; the precious oil was not just linked and sold with a foreign currency (dollar); the whole oil reserve will be under the control of different foreign entities.

The country is dry; and the remains were sold. Oil costs a lot now, food prices increased, water bills were increased (so as electricity), and the propaganda has never been more severe.

The kingdom also wasted a whole year in wasting resources in a useless war in the South -in Yemen-; a war against a militia that the kingdom couldn't win, and after almost a year of wasting resources, it had to sit on the table of negotiation and solve it politically with the "Houthy" Militia.

Saudi Arabia is falling..the horn of the devil is breaking down.

That's what you get, for turning the holliest place on earth, into a cheap version of Las Vegas.

To be fair, humans don't like to think of the dead religion's holy places as such, but the Greeks and Romans and Egyptians had their holy buildings and holy people too.

Mecca and Vatican City and Angkor Wat are all monuments to human narcissism, it is just that some are still currently popular. Fantastic artwork for sure, but so were the Egyptian Pyramids.

It would be nice if our species would spend less on religion and use that money to end things like poverty and pollution.

I hate it when anyone, including atheists pull the "true" fallacy.

Civility and morality isn't in a common label, but in our species actions. We are still ultimately individuals first. If a  label had magic powers we could expect to see a society with no prisons at all, but every nation, friend and foe alike all have prisons.

Holy people don't have magic bat pones. Holy books don't have magic powers. Economic views also don't mean the individual will only do good. Our species ability to be cruel or compassionate is in our evolution. Unfortunately evolution does not care which wins. Fortunately for our species, we do have the ability to think about how we interact with each other. Fortunately humans can chose to be non violent when we chose.

Selling Aramco?    They're not now are they?  They're considering a limited IPO on around 5%of shares, which will probably have nothing to do with the core, crude producing business.  the shares will probably be in the "downstream" businesses they run.

So, not like Russia selling arms to NATO or some such nonsense.

At all.

You've got to hand it to the rcc, the world's richest organisation, deeply steeped in money laundering and tax evasion, can even convince non-believers that they can't afford to fix the gutters on their high vale palaces. And I wouldn't be too sure about the rcc not calling other denominations evil, the holocaust had direct catholic roots (protestant too), not too long ago the church in Italy could legally abduct jewish children if it had been found out they had been adopted behind their parents' back. I also remember cases in Ireland in the 60's where Jehovah Witnesses were severely beaten after pulpit denunciations, and nothing was done to the assaulters or those who incited it (speech which amounts to incitement to hatred was then and is now a crime here).

The rcc is better at seeming reasonable than most other cults, that is all.

Okay, so now I guess it has even less of a reason to be there, especially since most of the hotels on the Vegas strip (even if they are smaller) at least have the decency of holding more people. Hell, when I stayed at the Planet Hollywood casino for a few days last year, I'm fairly sure it didn't even cost that much per night.
