The American goal since 1943 has been to bring democracy to the Arabs.  It will continue to work on that objective as long as it can regardless of how much it costs.  Right now Syria is being turned into rubble because Assad won't quit.  The same thing will happen elsewhere fairly soon.  Saudi Arabia might be last but its time is limited.

America suffers from the tragic delusion that democracy is some kind of cure-all for a society's ills. The problem is that a democracy is only sustainable where religion has been watered down and secularism is ascendant. Otherwise, the people will simply vote themselves a theocracy. Even America has come dangerously close to doing so.

A president Grump would be reined in by Congress and the judiciary - I truly believe Grump doesn't understand this and he thinks he will simply be the king of everything if he wins.

You forget 2008. A wiser administration could have taken steps to rein in the worst of the damages. And it spread like the plague all over the globe, not only ruining lives in the States but also in other parts of the world. I have no doubt that Trump could be reined in by Congress. If they are willing to do so in the first place. But it's not an assembly of the brightest minds we're speaking of.

Also. the sheer fact of Trump being president, would hit the global financial market like a nuclear device. Every shred of trust in the American economy would be lost. Even more so since Trump himself bragged about being the master of debt. It doesn't matter if he actually has the means to influence the economy in a negative way. The fact that there's someone bragging about not paying back what he owes at the helm of the largest economy is totally sufficient to have a negative impact.

Well if when the economy goes to shit again, don't blame me, I voted for Bernie Sanders.  In fact, his talk about breaking the Wall Street banksters is exactly why I voted for him.

No way in hell does Trump get elected. He has supporters that have completely turned off their critical thinking and are "locked in" on him. These people are immune to reason and will support him no matter what - but we're talking maybe 60% of registered Republicans - a small portion of the general electorate. Most voters will be swayed by the crushing attacks which will be directed his way. I have complete confidence that Hillary will win by a comfortable margin.

I wish I had your confidence about it. Sanders has a lot of stupid followers who are pledging to either write him in or vote for Trump.

It seems quite amusing and scary at the same time,  how people seem to think that if Hillary wins instead of Trump everything will be fine. As far as I am concerned, Hillary is quite capable of screwing us over just like Trump, and thus either of them winning is pretty much a doomsday scenario.

I disagree. Trump has as a plank of his policy challenging China, a move that would threaten both peace and trade. Given China's climb into superpower status, such a policy as Trump advocates is remarkably stupid.

All politicans will screw us over. But it takes a Trump to screw everybody over.

It should never have been close enough to even steal. A rational country would have impeached him in 2003 so fast his butt would have left smoking skid marks through the Rose Garden.
