Do theists need a threat to be moral?

In fact I take it fully into account. I don't expect the same behaviour from a psychopath as I would from a normal person. Obviously anyone who is killing people needs to be removed from society, but I don't hold a psychopath morally accountable. They have no moral, in extreme cases. They are amoral.

Psychopathology exists on a sliding scale. I expect the behaviors/morals to parallel their disease state.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

You're quite right. I have been talking mainly about the most extreme cases.

They use the same moral sense that nontheists do, they just attribute it to their gods.

As far as I can tell, according to the Bible, it is moral to kill witches (Exodus 22:18). Yet, other than a few Christian Pastors in Africa. the vast majority of Christians would not.

A very good point. Theists mostly filter their religion to fit their morality, not the other way around.

Many are under the impression that it doesn't need any fitting - even as they cram that heifer into a shoe two sizes too small.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Yeah...

It is painful to me watching someone trying to contort reality and twist words to try and make the two converge.
