Wait a minute I think I passed through that door on my way to this planet. It was called a vagina and it infected me with the same terminal disease that we all have... life.

Haha, good one Tongue

Still, I need no motivation, I would definatly want to know what was behind. If it were hell, mabe I could do some real research on it lol

Well, it really depends. Can you go back to the "real" world?
Trudging through endless religion one step at a time.

It's absolutely random what will be behind the door by the way - completely equal chance that it will be one thing or another.

Eh. Even if the only choice was 'paradise' I can only imagine the result being the same as the Nexus from Star Trek: Generations (a fantastic movie, IMO), in which yes, it would be great, but it would never be real. Even if its inhabitants live forever, I would be stuck in my own fantasy world. That's not a way to live.
The other options are vastly less palatable.

Actually this is where my idea kind of comes from. So, interesting observation you made there - you're not the only one Wink

Ah yes but that contradicts the premise.

If the fact it doesn't seem real to you makes you not desire it as much then it can't be absolute paradise can it?

That reminds me of 'The Experience Machine' argument here: - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Experience_Machine - actually, and the criticism of it is like my response here.

EvF,

Once I thought about your question like that I flashed on my reading of the Tibetan Book of the Dead which explains in vivid detail the exact experiences that will happen to you after you die. It details how long each section (Chikhai, Chonyid, and Sidpai Bardo) will be after you die, what beings you could meet, and eventually the different colors of smoke that you will see. Depending on the life you led and which habits are formed you will be attracted to certain colors of smoke and they will determine what level of being you will be born into. The goal of Buddhism is to avoid being attracted or repeled by anything and thus you can leave the wheel of rebirth. All noodly bullshit that springs forth from the same font of wishful thinking that begat many of the other noodly concepts our culture tolerates to a ridiculous degree. It was a interesting read though.

I didn't know that.... I thought the goal was just to be free from suffering. But I know fuck all about Buddhism so thanks for the information.

Interesting post by the way too.

One major, major, major, MAJOR criticism though:

(My bolding)

That is so intensely blasphemous towards our beloved Flying Spaghetti Monster, to use the term 'noodly bullshit' as if "noodly" is a bad thing. And to suggest that noodly things need to be tolerated and to suggest that even that level of treatment is ridiculous... Such extreme blasphemy is so, so immoral of you.

Sorry I couldn't resist.

I'm too much of a pansy to open a random door that says something that whacky on it. I'm also rather content and I would have too many questions before I would open the door as the question stands. So. . . no, I would not open the door.
