I'm sure you were no more frustating or pedantic than I can be.  Fire with fire.  What was it...I have to know now.

Myself as an atheist playing devil's advocate as a pantheist without actually being a pantheist. I made a thread to try and argue that if what is meant by the word "God" is simply the universe then since the universe exists and it is believed in then technically that makes us pantheists even if we don't identify as pantheists but only if and only if "God" is simply the universe which of course it isn't.

All my "ifs" got very confusing, pedantic and frustrating and I am sure it left you wondering what the fuck my point was and why I was arguing for it even though I did say I was playing devil's advocate... because of course surely I would have a point or a motive? Did I have a point and a motive? No I didn't really have a point at all, lol. I of course had a motive in the sense that all conscious actions have motives but I only had a motive insofar as I wanted to see if I could construct a valid argument based on unsound premises simply because I had only recently developed my logical argumentation skills, lol.

My  pedantry and lack of a point must have made it seem like I perhaps just perhaps actually believed that shit, and I really did not but I am not at all surprised that it seemed that way. I was a frustrating pedantic buttface, lol.

I'd find the thread if I could, would be entertaining for both of us looking back now I think... despite how it may have frustrated you at the time.

I say we had one or two disagreements (not literally one or two, it may have even been "some", lol) simply because I consider the probability low that we only ever had one over the years... I think it's more likely that I can only remember one. But I do indeed only remember that one disagreement between us. And although I cannot recall any of our agreements in the past I know we agreed on a lot of things, they're not just as memorable because, of course, novel things are more memorable... and our disagreement is memorable to me because it was a novelty because we usually agreed.

I'm not sure what it means... but my lack of sureness is not absolute and the remainder of my relative absence of unsureness that is sureness is certain that it means absolutely fuck all. Why, Rob, why should they stop and think about that?  Because it irritates you to hear them express their frustration at being casually and unconsciously discriminated against?  It's not about what irritates you...but you might think it is, that you have the right to this opinion, and that it's so very valid.... while their comments are moaning and whining.........there's a term for that.

One thing that always impresses me about you, Mr. Agenda, is how Agendaless you genuinely seem to be. No sarcasm intended, absolutely not a passive aggressive dig at anyone else who may indeed have more of an agenda than yourself, again, no sarcasm intended. (And I only mentioned a hypothetical passive aggressive dig against others because I am aware it may come across that way).

I really like how you're often kudosing both sides in a debate, and seeing both points of view very well... I mean, even if perhaps sometimes -- like in this thread -- I think that the opposing side's point of view is more of a denial of reality than an alternative view... generally speaking it's a very positive thing to be able to see both sides in a debate and so I commend you for that.

Thanks, Alasdair. Actually, I can be a bit naïve, and part of the reason for sticking with the moniker is to remind myself that people sometimes have concealed agendas. I won't say I don't have any, but I try to be transparent about them. And thanks for noticing that I try to recognize people who make points or express themselves well even if I don't agree with their position. I try.

I also can get huffy and pedantic and sometimes abuse sarcasm. I also have a bad memory and people are generally as good as their last post with me. Unless they're toxic enough that I defriend them (they have to be pretty fucking toxic for that by the way!)

Oh and we all have our bad points.
