A system by which the government pays someone else to tend to undesirables. American private prisons are only a tick better than the Nauru travesty.

And..you know..that little niggling fact that they're still human beings and American citizens.

They just can't afford a very good grade of American citizen status.  They have to take theirs from the cheap rack and sometimes a career providing jobs to those in the incarceration industry is the most they can afford.

Why are you so worried what happens to the prisoners? They're there for a reason and as some media refer to them they're the"garbage of mankind", so I really don't understand why you're so worried about them.

Well, without speaking for Rhythm, that's probably because many people simply don't belong there in the first place. World's largest prison population and the incentive of making the American justice system more punitive that reformative. There are people imprisoned for something that would get you a slap on the wrist,, community work or a fine in most other western countries.

You hit the nail on the head. Private prisons are certainly an issue, but the issue only exists because of mass incarceration. This is one of several things that come to mind and makes my blood boil every time I hear 'land of the free' near the end of our national anthem.

Wait, are you saying that the more prisoners they have, the bigger profit they get? I thought the budget for prisons is strictly fixed and ruled by the government, regardless of how many people have been put in prison.
