Why Do I hate creationists (theists in general)

Two questions:

Does that mean you your self are leaning a little deist?

Are you the same Pops who'd gotten swept up in some religious predictions?


Don't mean to put you on the spot or embarrass you.  I think quite a few of us felt some real fondness for you and were wishing you hadn't painted yourself into that corner.

There are and have been members who were deists.  I myself can allow 'gods' exist; I just don't think any of them created everything or have the power to impose an afterlife even if they wanted.  So I don't go for any supernaturalism in gods.  If they're going to have any reality at all, they're just going to have to make it in the real world the same way we do.  Of course, you might wonder if God is so little why even bother?  But to my mind, it is only a very little, nearly powerless, entirely personal god which could possibly command my respect or interest.

Sorry for double response but I don't recall getting caught up in any religion predictions per say. Could you refresh my memory?

I do not hate atheists. I dont even hate atheism per se even though I think many of the ways it manifests itself can be profoundly destructive for people and society just as misguided religion can. I strongly dislike some AF members but I still pray for their well being and for me to learn compassion through them.

I do not hate theists.  I strongly dislike them.

My dislike is apparent, due to how theists have a strong desire to go to extreme measures in ensuring that others believe as they do.

I suppose I'd prefer to say I hate pushy people who are intent to garner agreement no matter how disagreeable the means.  Many theists fall into this category.  With fundamentalist xtians, their dogma specifically directs them to act precisely in this way.  So, fuck them in the ass without lube.

What do you think are the behaviors and attitudes which you specially hate?  Is smug self satisfaction one of them?  Perhaps name calling and saying deliberately hurtful things?  Back when I was a kid and a believer, when I first heard of atheists I thought they were just such ingrates; now I realize it is possible to be grateful without that being directed to someone, whether supernatural or otherwise.

Strongly dislike.

Let me see if I can guess.  Did you ever have to attend church, take part in a religious ritual or pretend you were a believer when in fact you were not?  That might leave a little residue of resentment.  On the other hand if you were so cleverly handled that you not only bought the whole thing but studied apologetics or actively recruited new believers - and then finally realized it was all for naught.  Well then you have the grounds for not only resentment but also some niggling self hatred.

What do I win?

I don't actually hate them but I did attend a masjiq or an islamic church.

God is a spirit in a sense. Much more so than a person surely.
