It's Unconstitutional for the Police to Kill People

It's like a social auto-immune disease.

Yes, we're talking about all of the above. But that's not what your OP implies. It implies that police isn't allowed to use their weapons under any kind of circumstances, since that would be unconstitutional.

So, I repeat, you're the other extreme. The extreme opposite of the ones defending everything that happened within these last years. And I repeat, let's take it to a less embarrassing level, since both extremes are equally stupid.

With respect to all Americans here, do you really want another country like the United States full of weapons, both for the police and for the citizens?

Absolutely.

Quote: You can see in one of the videos there's an officer in red who stands over a gun shaped object.  It's inbetween both his legs and he stands over it seemingly to prevent it being kicked or moved and to prevent anyone else walking near it.

The video that matters is the one where he gets out of his car, hands at his sides, never raises them, does not seem to have anything in his hands and is shot seconds later by ONE COP out of all those present and pointing guns at him.  Apparently, although we won't know until the autopsy is complete, since the white cops in front of him did not shoot he must have been shot in the back.

I'm sorry to say that once the cops are swarming over the scene anything which suddenly pops up is suspect.  As we saw in Chicago, a man weaving down the street with a knife in his hand is blown away by one cop out of about ten, none of whom fired a shot, but all of whom lied to Internal Affairs that the victim had lunged toward the officer who did fire when the video clearly shows that he was walking AWAY.  I simply no longer believe anything the cops say and once they have had an opportunity to plant evidence their commentary is as worthless as dog shit on a hot sidewalk.

Anyway, as to the original point of the OP.

Quote:Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

So, yeah.  When some trigger happy cop blows someone away that is not "due process of law."

If only the American police forces could adopt a UK/Australian model of getting rid of weapons, and giving licences out to all and sundry, perhaps the need for cops to have guns might diminish over time. The cops don't need guns, and neither do the citizens.

Both should be armed.

I think the police should be armed with LAW rockets. Just to make sure the suspect is good and dead.

I know you was being sarcastic but it could lead to that one day unfortunately. Guns are so deeply entrenched into American society, that it is like Catholicism in the Vatican I'm afraid and to change the mentality of the people and cops that to kill people with a gun is wrong is just like telling the pope he is wrong; they will just not listen to reason.

Take a look at this photo.

A white guy with an assault rifle reaches for his pistol while a cop stands there and.... what?  Tells him to calm down?
Note the second cop in the back who also does not seem to feel the need to pull his gun as cops are trained to use a two handed grip and his left arm is clearly visible.

Now, suppose the guy had been black?  How many SWAT teams would have been summoned?

After watching the footage released by the widow of the deceased, what does she mean by this:

Quote:Rakeyia Scott tells her husband to get out of his white pickup truck and repeatedly yells, “Keith, don’t you do it! Don’t you do it, Keith!”
She tells her husband to get out of the car, and in the next breath tells him "not to do it." Can someone explain the "don't you do it"? Don't do what exactly, get out of the car, when she ordered him to? I am a bit confused.
