Well, you do realise that almost everyone (this includes cops, citizens and gang members) are brought up on John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Alan Ladd and others besides. They all have this cowboy mentality. Take their guns away, and America might just become more civilised and integration for foreigners might become just that much easier.

Oddly enough, France, where you live, has much tighter firearms controls, many fewer firearms, and yet are having a devil of a time with integration.

Perhaps you explain what you think the link is, in light of that point?

Only those who don't want to integrate. As far as I know, the Africans and Asians do integrate, the arabs don't nearly as much. The less said about the Yanks and the Brits the better who prefer to stay in their own little communities and want to speak English when it comes to work.

Last I heard, it was French politicians passing restrictive legislation, and the French polity swinging to the right in large part due to the influx of immigrants.

Methinks one of the lenses in your spectacles is busted ... you're only focusing on one view.

ETA: That still doesn't explain how America would have fewer immigrant-integration issues if only it had tighter gun-control laws, which was your claim.

Also, given that you've never been to America and admittedly know no Americans, on what authority are you making your claim about Americans being brought up on Wayne/Eastwood/Ladd, and thus imbibing the movie portraits they've made? I think garnering your stereotypes about Americans from the movies you've watched is pretty inane. I also think it's obvious that's your, ahem, source that you'll be considering, until you get to this line of this post.

Actually, it would be trigger happy cops, not the internet, that we have to thank for that.  Cops in the US account for more shootings and gun-death than criminals do in the rest of the developed world.

The fatal shootings of innocents by cops is one thing.  But American cops are clearly trained to abuse others in the name of their own safety.  Just shouting, pulling a weapon, making threats of violence, forcing people to the ground when it's not proven they've done anything, etc.  This is a fucking asshole police state, and it's based on cowardice.  The nobility of serving in blue is that you are risking your life to PRESERVE people's safety, rights and dignity-- not that you carry a big badge, a big black dildo (oops I mean night stick), tasers, body armor and guns.  There's nothing noble in that.

In Germany it's about the same chance as winning the lottery. 1 out of 8,2 millions shot and killed by police in 2015.

Heh, the cops here in Portugal rarely use body armor. They go around with T-shrts ( uniform ofc). They do have the black dildo, handcuffs and service gun, seldom used. Lately what we had here were cops prosecuted for using the gun.

There is this cop here under suspension because he tried to shoot the tires of a getaway van after a robery and they tried to run him over. He missed and hit the back of the van. Turns out there was a kid on the back of the van, son of one of the robbers. Shit hit the fan for that officer.

Yeah, nice way to get away with crime here. Take your kids to a robbery and use them as meatshields. Then even get a payment for your loss.

I will say that the good ol US of A needs to change it's screening/hiring evaluation process. Seems like we have far more "enforcers" than servants/protectors. Although I think we need a mix of both, that mix is excessively skewed to the former.
