Bar mitzvahs are more indicative of what music you'd hear in a service. I like it. A good cantor can get the whole congregation in tune and since many of the songs are sung in a minor key, the effect can be haunting.

Do Catholics have most boring churches/ liturgy?

I'm kind of curious about the tradition of the chair twirling. Kind of off-topic (well, really off-topic), but it stuck with me.

I have no idea, actually.

Man, I was raised Catholic and I never realized how much it sucked until I stopped going to church. The talking in unison gives me the heebie-jeebies now... sounds like a creepy cult (well it is)
If you're in a grand, especially in Italy, Catholic cathedral you have lots of pretty art to examine. Most boring is entirely subjective and I've not been in every denomination so I couldn't say. Also depends heavily on the speakers if they try to make things "fun"; again subjective. Two Catholic priests aren't going to be exactly alike.

You just don't feel the drama of mass play out where it's intended and applied, which is in the minds of near and post pubescent children.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
I personally do think mass is pretty boring, but I come out of it with a sense of peace and a sense of closeness to God. I have been to several protestant churches where they do the whole up beat singing and clapping, cracking jokes, making slide shows, etc etc.
It's fine, but definitely not my thing and not something I come out of feeling close to God or spiritual. I prefer the Catholic mass.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
