Exactly. People do what God tells them to do, as long as they were going to do it anyway. I don't know how it could be any other way, since they are just talking to themselves. I guess sometimes they are talking to people from their past instead, who have drummed into them what God would say.
I can see how people who can't handle how brutal and unfair life can be need a way to justify it all. Religion offers "answers", although they are made up and don't even make sense. They actually end up making things even worse, if you stop to properly analyse them. People don't, I imagine, because they just want the pill.
Personally, I accept that such notions as "unfair" are just human value judgements. Reality is what it is. I have no need to make up stories to accept that.
Okay. I got it Rob. Reality stinks. No reason. It just does. Whew! That's a relief.

I can tell you're trying to make some kind of point through sarcasm but I have no idea what.

I'm just making fun of your outlook on the world, but I do understand that you have no hope beyond the world of which you speak. You just go on telling me how much better it is to be this way.

What should anyone be hopeful for? What's the purpose of that hope, what are you looking to overcome with it? Do you think that your hope is transferable, that I would hope for what you hoped for, for example? I'm not really sure that a person can legitimately make fun of another person for not being hopeful.... about cheating death.
That's called being an adult.

I'm not really making fun of yours or anyone else's suffering. We all suffer. It's just that I have a more cheerful outlook on life in this world despite the fact that I too suffer. I actually enjoy life here as I await eternal life, not in every single experience, but overall. I go through suffering with the attitude that there is a purpose in everything here that is part of eternity for us all. I believe this existence here in this world is important and try to make this world a better place with less suffering, but I know that this isn't all there is. I have hope for existence beyond this all. Not only that, but I know it's true because God's Spirit is in me. And you'e telling me that your way is the better way to go and that I need to become an adult. Especially since, according to your definition of being an adult, not only does the world stink, but it's really just that way for no purpose. At least if I am to suffer let there be a purpose for it or why bother at all? It just stinks.

You have a more cheerful outlook on this life, as you hold out hope for another one, this one being little more than a test for that..more important one? Somehow, I doubt that very much.
I think the world rocks, you loon..., why would you imagine I think otherwise? Because life would be shitty, in your estimation..if there weren't a do-over in a better place with your imaginary friend? We all make happiness where there;s happiness to be had. Your fantasies are nothing -other- than you attempting to make happiness, as you see it, here, in this life. Though I appreciate all the pious professions above as theater for the non-believer.

-as an addendum to the above.
The more I hear christers tell me that human beings are broken creatures...and that we should fall to our knees and pray for what dreams may come, the more I'm inclined to believe that they, at least -are- broken creatures..who have nothing to live for excepting whatever life believe follows this one. Line up all the shitty things that have ever happened, to me, and after every single one of them you can just go ahead and tack on a "-and life is awesome, I'd do it all over again!". Whereas some minor tragedy in a believers life has them wishing to meet their maker. Crying unto heaven, and hoping for the day this nasty, brutish world..... this vale of tears, is lifted.
What I never understand, is why they seem to think that any of their sad-sack stories...have anything to do with me?

To any believer interacting or lurking. Can you tell me what hope I am supposed to see in the notion that a bumbling god, made of every single human flaw imaginable..has so ineptly designed his masterwork....as to require the stringing up of the better man -if one can be found- for all of their intractable deficiencies? Where is the hope...or indeed the happiness, in believing that the best thing that will ever happen to this world, is the end of this world, and the coming kingdom of this god? This god...who will fill his kingdom with sycophants who have washed themselves in the blood and punish those who have not or refuse, that these frozen chosen will spend eternity kissing that very same gods ass...for everything that they believe, he has done?
I've gotta say, to all of the above, I'd rather be fishing. I'd rather be sitting on a creek -not- catching fish. I think I'd rather be getting divorced, or having a tooth pulled... in fact. I'd rather be getting shot at. All of these things, to me, are more hopeful and happier...than any of the shit above. This place is my home. I think it;s beautfiul. I;m very often overly proud of this world and everything in it. I don't need to believe that parts of it will go away, or that divine reparations will be made in some future life.....to be happy, or have hope.
Maybe, just maybe, some of you should ask yourselves why -you- do? Particularly in thatyou ask us, sometimes, when you imagine that we're angry at your imaginary god...what terrible thing has been done to us? What misery, really, have we been made to endure, that we would be so hateful. That;s a fantastic question....but I think it might garner more answers if it were directed inward. What is so bad, here, that you need hope for some "otherwhere". What has been done to you? What misery is so great that only a celestial reward can redeem it? Where does this hateful view of -this- world, -this- life, originate?

He convinced her that they are mature now and he is not the same person he was before. He still loved her and she still loved him. This meant moving out of state to go live with his family. They’d have a farm and he’d buy her a horse.
Well, she prayed and asked for god’s direction and he told her yes she should go with his blessing and providence.
Wasn’t out there for but a few months when his family started abusing her. He underwent surgery that took his leg so he could not protect her. With the help of her daughter from yet another state she got out of there with her life. She believes they were planning to kill her. She lost all her possessions, but thanks god she came out alive and that’s what’s important.
Recently, the husband and the other man who was abusing her died and she is sure that was god’s retribution. Shocked, I asked her if she had actually prayed for god to kill them and she said yes.
If god knew the men were bad and wanted to kill them, he could have done so without telling her to go out there and be abused.
This whole think of praying for god’s direction then thanking him for damage control when things go awry is just the theists’ way of justifying acting against their better judgment then refusing to take responsibility for their bad decisions. If Christians knew what effect their testimonies have on me, they would just shut up.
Again (meaning what I said in the other thread about prayer) There is nothing here that resembles a prayer.. Including the 'hit' she ordered.
Prayer is a way for us to ask God to change us and our mind sets, not a way for us to ask or bug him for crap till he caves in.
For example she should have forgiven this man no matter what he did to her, yet here she is calling for his death.
There is nothing christian or scriptural in what she did concerning her prayers. She prayed about what she wanted and found a reason to just follow through with what she wanted to begin with. Again prayer is not about us getting what we want up front it is meant as a way for God to work in us. to change us to what he wants... which btw is far above and beyond anything we could even imagine to ask for ourselves. We were built for a specific purpose, and prayer along with some humility will see us placed in the position God has made for us to fill.
This lady did what she wanted and good or bad tried to come out 'spiritual' by assigning the outcome to God's will.

Uhh, okay. I still have no idea what you're going on about. But by all means carry on if you're enjoying yourself.
