Me And A Melon.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

The Bible is fake history and absolute pig-shit mythology, including the flood that never happened, the garden with magic trees, and the entire "Jesus" story arc (which is not particularly original, considering that risen saviour-gods were a dime a dozen in the Middle East).

It is so far from the truth that it would have to take a trans-Atlantic flight, a commuter flight, and a 10-hour bus ride to get to where it could even see the truth.

Quote:I just hope some of you might see the light before then.

I reject your religion and your pretend salvation unconditionally.  I want no part of Christianity and I intend to go to my grave having never spoken the Sinner's Prayer even once.

No, it is so far from the truth if it took the Voyager out beyond Pluto it still would not be close to the truth.

You know what they say - no ma'am is an island. Probably somewhere in the south Pacific.

You said "I withhold belief in gods until there is sufficient evidence to support belief".
If you look around and see so many complex living beings, and you still need proof that it was designed by a Supreme Being?
Simple bad example would be a car.If you look at one you know he had to be made by somebody with intelligence.
Regarding God: Just because you cannot prove something exists does not mean it doesn't  exist.

You get all of your bullshit from apologist site, don't you?  Not an original thought in that thoroughly washed brain, huh?

Hence the long bus ride to get to the observatory. Tongue

um . . .

so many instances of not getting the past right, and you're advocating the bible as an accurate predictor of the future ??

Additionally, so much contemporaneous action to when it was (supposedly) written is incorrect too.

Example:

Jesus being  recorded as having been crucified on Thursday and Friday, meaning the Bible is WRONG on one day or the other, or Christ was nailed up twice and died both times.

Belief in the suffering, death on the cross, and resurrection of Jesus is the salient essence of Salvation, and yet believers either don't know scripture has this major fuck up in recording it, inerrantly, OR if they do know, they don't apprise new recruits of this essentially disordered chronology when they are out shilling for their 'Perfect' God.

So asking others to accept your Bible/Jesus/God fable as some kind of tea leaf/goat entrails/crystal ball window into the future is fucking ludicrous.

val5662 Wrote:Like I said before "If you look around and see so many complex living beings, and you still need proof that it was designed by a Supreme Being?" and that isn't proof enough,  and if your idea of "If i can't see it or touch it i don't believe it exists", I can't help ya out.

'It's obvious I'm right!' isn't actually an argument. We understand how complex living beings can form without intelligent intervention. I believe you could understand too, if you wanted.

val5662 Wrote:As for the "Evolution is the science that explains how life evolved." , that still says basically something appeared from nowhere and eventually turned into all the stuff we can see.

It says nothing of the sort. Cosmology and biology are not the same field. And you must know that.

val5662 Wrote:If you think that is true, and not a Creator we call God making everything from nothing, I can't help you out either.

That there ever was nothing is highly questionable, scientifically speaking. And news flash: If your version of God existed eternally, there never was nothing in your theology, either.

val5662 Wrote:The Bible is the only truthful book you will ever read.

I read it cover-to-cover twice, and doing so cured me of being a Christian. It did not impress me as being that truthful.

val5662 Wrote:It tells everything for Creation to the end of time.If you read it front to back and dismiss all or part of it, I can't help ya with that.

Lots of 'just so' myths tell similarly complete stories. If you aren't qualified to 'help me with that', then maybe you shouldn't have taken on this topic.

val5662 Wrote:At the end of time, when you wake up you will find out The Bible was 100% correct in all it's verses.
I just hope some of you might see the light before then.

I see you're following the admonition of Jesus to threaten the nonbelievers with a terrible afterlife...no, wait, the Jesus character says to be as gentle as a dove and wise as a serpent. In other words, when you're witnessing, be smart. How smart is it to threaten people with hell before you've convinced them hell is real?

I think your religion just gives you an excuse to look down on people who don't share it. You may not have anything else going for you, but at least you happened to be raised in the right religion!
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

No need to wait that long.  We already know that magic book got things horribly wrong.  So do you.  It's clear from your posts that even in your own mind, your beliefs about magic book and the facts of evolutionary biology can't be simultaneously true. For some people, it's not a problem at all. Others commit themselves to tilting at windmills.
