Thor, how do you perceive and comprehend things? Last time I checked, my way of perceiving and comprehending was through my five senses; sight, smell, sound, touch, and taste. These are all components of experiencing human life, and are the most effective way to communicate anything to us; by appealing to one or more of the five senses. That is how 'life' is the message. Derp derp.

Yes, we experience life through our senses. How does this mean that some deity is communicating with us through "life"? This makes no sense whatsoever.

How about this? If your deity wants to communicate with us he could do so by SPEAKING to us. Or is that too difficult for him?

And my point is that, if atheism is such a grand enlightenment for you, why are you not more willing to share it with your brother? If it is something that would benefit him, why not share it? It may anger, insult, or hurt him, but in the long run wouldn't he thank you? If he accepted atheism and it turned out to be as beneficial as you claim it to be?

I promote free thinking, not trying to impose your views on someone else. If they were to ask me why I'm an atheist I would be happy to tell them. But I'm not going to start a conversation I know they don't want to have.

Of course! You look at the grass, and automatically register that it is green! ou don't need someone to tell you that it is green, you know through teaching that the color the grass is is caleld 'green.'

You wouldn't get the same understanding of things if someone walked up to you and said 'the grass is green' without first having observed green grass for yourself. Observance of a phenomena is stronger and increases understanding of it more than being told about a phenomena. Your senses are more powerful than another person's words. Comprendo?

I'm sure you see where I'm going with this, but you'll probably come back with some intentionally thick misunderstanding/misconstrument of what I've said.

As for your response on why you've not talked to your brother about your atheism, that's fair enough. I ca nsee why you wouldn't want to strain the family ties with such discussion. However, why don't you ask him about his religion and listen openly? It would be so that you might better understand why he believes what he believes, which is a good thing, obviously.

I don't need to ask him about his religion. I was raised in the same religion he was. And I already understand why he believes what he believes.... he was raised to believe it! If he was raised in a Muslim household his dinner prayers would be going to Allah instead of Jesus. This is pretty much the reason why most people believe in a particular religion.

I already pointed this out in my post; God's message is one that is clear to all of mankind from the get-go of the species. Life contains the Word, and reveals God's messages to us. The Bible was simply a translation of that into human language. It doesn't contain the entire message nor does it describe it perfectly. Because the Bible is created by man, and therefore falliable. Like man.

So you're the genius who figured all that out by yourself. Ok, but don't wait for the Nobel prize. There's none for those who are out standing in their field.
