The optimism isn't complete. I hunted when I was a kid, but never had a desire to own a gun as an adult. Neither did my wife. Now we're considering it. We're not there yet, but if I'm wrong and this stuff continues, we might get there. 

Considering current gun ownership (conservatives have a lot more) and people like me, if the left wants a revolution, they need to start buying a whole lot of them.

Yup..which, depending on how long this fascist trend endures....is either a good thing, or a very unfortunate instance of when people's better nature puts them in the eventual victims column of history.

IMO, trumpian fascisms 15 minutes of fame will soon be over, at least in this country. It's easier to justify endurance and obstruction, at this point. Yup..which, depending on how long this fascist trend endures....is either a good thing, or a very unfortunate instance of when people's better nature puts them in the eventual victims column of history.
