RE: Matter and energy can be past-eternal
Oh no Yesmen says I'm a Goon for agreeing with the person who has a good track record of contribution to this  forum .As opposed to the douchebag who clings to it like shit on a boot . What will I ever do .

Type away my little minions, type! and support my unfounded claims with sweet, sweet sycophancy! Muahahahaha!

Didn't Hawking claim that there are no true singularities a few years ago? That event horizons are apparent, not actual? If he is correct, there can be no singularity at the core of a black hole, and the universe can't have begun from a singularity.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Yup I believe he talks about in black holes and baby universes and in the grand design . But that's the rub is it's actual or not . Or as Carroll puts it

Quote:But singularities are just signs that the theory is breaking down, and has to be replaced by something better. The obvious choice for “something better” is a sensible theory of quantum gravity

It'a the same with the Borde Guth Vilenkin theorem which people like William Lane Craig always like to abuse. It's a beautiful theorem because it works with very simple assumptions, and when those are met (a permanent inflationary expansion of space) you hit "walls" when going back in time in a particular way. This has been used by apologists to claim that this is "proof that the universe must have a beginning". But all it is, is proof that in the past there must be regions of space which did not expand in this manner. Nor does it really tell us that there is nothing before that.

In this, history records they had great success.

agreed theists seem to love to manipulate science but are half assed about it

And then they encountered a three headed knight. A castle of horny maidens .A crazy old man who part time guards a bridge of certain death. And a group of knights who have weaponized obscure sayings respectively.

Quote:It's strange that a person would wave their credentials around without actually presenting any evidence of them.

Well, it depends on where one lives. For example, I'm within 500m of a school, so waving my credentials in public might get me arrested.
