The point of passive aggressive provocation is to illicit exactly this sort of response, so that the provocateurs can then piss and moan about how horrible whomever they were fucking with is.
They're the guys who keep slapping you until your face turns red, and then ask "umadbro" - right before you bust their teeth for being dipshits. Then, like the bitches they invariably are, they skulk around playing the victim.
