So my Hispanic neighbor I guess hired a friend to cut down some pine trees in his yard. I am fucking deadly afraid of heights. So it works the same cutting down trees all over the world. He has the spike boots and uses a strap to climb to the top and slowly cut chunk by chunk. 

I've been inside all day so all I noticed was the chainsaw not really seeing what he was doing. So I went outside to walk to the gas station to buy some beer, and finally noticed. I don't speak but a very tiny fraction of Spanish but was able to joke with him basically saying, "better you than me." He laughed. 

I hate heights, you cant get me past the 5th floor balcony. I can go higher in a room if it is simply a window with no balcony. So I finally saw him up in the tree on my way back and said, "Tu ok, mi no".

Did your language skills allow you to explain to the man, that you would be unable to perform his job, because of your fear of heights? Or could he perhaps come back home that evening and tell his family - "Some white dude came by, as I was breaking my back, cutting trees into chunks, to tell me in atrocious Spanish, that this kind of job was OK for someone like me, but it would not be suitable for a person of his stature. I politely laughed it off, but damn - what a condescending pr*ck. I was a surgeon back in Guatemala... And I speak English, for f*cks's sake."?

Drunk or not, it still remains all 7 billion of us are the same species. Argue my delivery, that would be a better argument, but I have never lost sight that we are the same species, and as long as I am lucid, I never will. I have no fear at laughing at life, including myself and others. 

I don't ever want my fellow humans to think of our world population as "other" because we are not. But I am not going  to always censor myself because someone doesn't understand the context of my humor or think I should never joke like this. 

I don't care if the intent is good, the game of "never say" is a dangerous one long term on all sides. If we all got to silence someone for offending the other, there is not one individual out of our 7 billion that could not think of something they would rather not hear.
