They were also not like-minded in the way that Jesus was actually nice to his enemies. Aside from the whole hellfire bit. The god of the old testament was anything but kind. I grew up firmly believing they were different people entirely because of their significant differences.

Use of the phrase, to me, seems to deny the scope/extent/degree/nature of their relationship and misleads those attempting to be faithful to them.
Just throwing this out, but the relationship might be more akin to budding, although I concur it is incomplete too, but less misleading than the 'father and son' label.
Additionally, 'Father and son' implies (asserts?) a genetic contribution from Mary. That can't be possible, as the (for lack of a better term) resultant hybrid would definitely NOT be the original, and would be denying the Trinity in it's essential constitution, which we know to be false.
I'm aware of the limitation of words and wordsmithing, but the term "Father and Son" in regards to God and Jesus is so far off the mark that to use it is equivalent of heresy.
There has to be a better way of saying it.

Sick, really, the God of the universe sacrificed His life for us, it doesn't get any more awesome than that. He could have just wiped us out and put an end to the whole thing and gone on enjoying His existence as He had for an eternity.

The trinity. When one gawd just isn't enough for your mono-theism.

What would be the purpose of dividing into three personas 2,000 years ago when there's no mention of three versions of Yahweh = the God of the Hebrews and the God of the armies = in the Old Testament?
There has to be a way of accurately describing (and then understanding and BELIEVING!!) the relationship of God, Jesus and Holy Ghost.
An inaccurate conception of that relationship, and subsequent belief in that mistaken version, is incompatible with Salvation.
At least outside of Mormonism. I think we can all agree (barring some befuddled Mormons themselves) the Mormon understanding of the Trinity is entirely, completely, and fundamentally essentially disordered. I'm trying to get the rest of the religious folks out of that particular jam, but as we can all see, even outside of Mormonism, the Trinity is a tough slog in explaining.
And actually, atheists understanding mainline contemporary Trinitarian doctrine is nothing of any import compared to the dire need for all who strive for Salvation to understand and believe PRECISELY and ACCURATELY exactly what that doctrine is.
I'd suggest, in the earlier mentioned and linked video, a line by line refutation/clarification/expansion of precisely where that video gets it wrong, and how the actuality of the Trinity can be and is clearly described and understood (and then subsequently believed) is just what we need to see here.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

You must have missed the first chapters of Genesis, they have always been the three in one.

That was the human side of Jesus praying, He knew what the next morning would bring. Yet He accepted as a man the will of God. An example you should follow.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Make a judgement about someone's character then deny you're doing it. Yep, it's you alright.

Godboy shudda been able to noodle that one out with both hands tied behind his back, let alone nailed to a board.
Assuming that the Yeshua guy was an actual person and not an imaginary one it's easy to see how he had been brainwashed all of his life into thinking that he was really Yahweh's son. His mother had been feeding him a line of BS about it since he was a minute old and the local yokels thought that he was special. So after years and years of such BS he was convinced that he was the real deal. Then, when he had gotten nailed he finally realized that the joke was on him. He was just a deluded lunatic.
