Vaccination exemption in CA, personal down, medical up

People from Ohio are friendly and make eye contact? Actually I do notice some of that when I go to the next town over to get groceries. I live in the poorest city in one of the poorest counties.

I lived in Toledo for a while. Hated that damn town but the people were really cool.

I've never been to Toledo.  I'm about an hour or so from Cleveland, and oh what a difference that distance makes.

Interesting idea, but I'm not sure if it's feasible. Seeing all the anti-vaxxed kids (as opposed to the ones who can't be immunised for medical reasons) in a community clustered together has been tried before, and here's just one example of how well that turned out. Maybe this wasn't all of them together, and maybe I'm applying it wrong, but it seems to be the same general idea you were going for.

Okay, if it's the law you're looking for a middle ground in, this is one case where I don't think there really is one.

Possibly with the philosophical exemption, but really, in practice, all it does is open up a possibility of outbreaks of diseases we thought were a thing of the past. And, as I'm sure you've guessed, this happens frequently, though evidently not often enough that the movement goes bust. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

My suggestion was that non vaccinated kids' parents be required to let their school know. That way they keep the healthy non vaccinated kids way from the ones that are not vaccinated due to legitimate health reasons. Put them in different classes.  

I think this is a better option than straight up forbidding non vaccinated kids to attend public school.

Sure. Put the onus on the school instead of where it belongs, on the parents. There are so many ways that plan can go wrong.

I suspect it might smack of the sort of formally "separate but equal" schooling that Brown vs. The Board of education ruled unconstitutional to many people, even if those affected tend to largely be white and upper class and not black people the society at large is trying to keep as close to enslaved as possible.

I just worry about the outbreaks that will be bound to happen under such a scenario.

Im just talking about the voluntarily non vax kid being in a separate classroom as the medically necessary non vax kid (If there are any in school, which is probably pretty rare if they have a serious illness). Schools usually have each grade divided up by multiple classes, like my elementary school had 1st grade split up into class 1A, 1B, and 1C. All the grades were like that.

Most schools the days, thanks to budget restrictions, have a limited number of elective classes. They're not going to easily, if at all, separate out particular kids.

You're also not thinking about common areas. Playgrounds, lunch areas, bathrooms autitoriums, etc... Add in the fact that many of these viruses can linger on surfaces, even keeping the kids away from each other may not help.

Of course, there are two very simple solutions. Get your kid vaccinated or keep the home.

CL doesn't seem to have much trouble cutting into already restrictive budgets to allow morons to send petri dish kids to public schools.
