No he did not have access to an auto fire weapon no his gun was not modified to fire automatically. he got one round per trigger pull. the same thing happens in a double action revolver. he simply figured out how to pull the trigger faster.

It was also theorized by investigators that the gunman was planning on getting away, and with the explosives in his car, use it as a car bomb to kill more people. Guns or no guns, this guy had planned on killing a lot of people.

I don't think anyone needs soft triggers that allow spraying. And I also don't think anyone needs big clips for either riffles or handguns. I still get frustrated with the far right when they falsely claim the left wants a 100% ban on all, which is not the case.

Making them harder to get is also not a presumption of guilt. It is the same as wanting your doctor to know what the fuck they are doing or your jet pilot.

I don't support outright bans on any type of small arms.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't support a lot of other types of new gun control legislation. That might even include putting "modern sporting rifles" in a registry similar to the current NFA registry.

Explosives were found in the shooter's car and it was theorized that he was planning to escape and possibly use his vehicle as a car bomb to kill more people. So, yes. It's part of the conversation, dumb fuck. You have an obsession with issues to the point of total stupidity.

He said a later search of cases found in the car revealed 50 pounds of Tannerite -- a brand-name product that's marketed as explosive rifle targets.
The cache of explosives in Paddock's car could indicate plans for a car bomb, CNN law enforcement analyst Art Roderick said.

"Those explosives, that's the scary part. What was he going to do with those? I mean, you don't just acquire them and leave them in your vehicle and not have a plan for them," said Roderick, former assistant director of the US Marshals Service.
"The Tannerite could have set off the ammonium nitrate," Roderick said. "So, was he using that as a vehicle-borne explosive device?"
It's possible no one will ever learn Paddock's plan for the explosives. The gunman killed himself before police breached his hotel room door.

Most of your top ten rifles on anybodies list are going to be bolt actions.  Obviously there's some game that bolt actions aren't so great for.  Chiefly anything fast, small, or dangerous.  

We'd be banning squirrel guns like a 40 year old sears .22lr...but leaving a modern tactical bolt option open.  OTOH, we'd hit most of the firearms used to commit crimes.  Semi auto pistols, specifically.  On my end, other than my 22 and a couple of shotties, I'm a bolt purist.  I like to hit what I point at.  If the compromise between gun ownership and gun regulation was such that I had to say bye bye to my 22, I'd probably drill the action and plug the barrel.  Had the thing since I was little.  Fair trade. I guess there's my savage autoloading 12.....but, I don't shoot that fucker to often. Rough on the shoulder, lol.

I would support rigid limit on magazine capacity on any firearm as more reasonable than banning self-loading rifle altogether.   I know self-loading conversion kits for bolt action rifles have been made, both for the military near the end of WWI, and for commercial purposes.  Some of these conversion kits can be applied without professional armorer skill.

The rigid magazine capacity limit should be in the form requiring non-detachable magazines that are integral with the receiver.    The baseline position is the rifle should be made so it can only loaded by inserting individual rounds through the receiver into the fixed magazine.   As a fall back for legislative purposes, charger clips with 5 or 8 rounds may be allowed that can insert clipped rounds all at once through the receiver into the magazine. The fixed magazine should not be convertible to replaceable magazine without massive effort by professional armorer.

The fixed magazine should then be limited to 5 or at most 10 rounds.   I believe this should be applied to both handguns and Long guns.

If a rifle or pistol can only hold 5 rounds and must be reloaded one round at a time, the sort of mass casualty shooting would scarcely be possible. If the shooting enthusiast wishes to test his accuracy during rapid fire, he could still do so up to 5 rounds.
