is easy to vilify individuals one have never met. Most of the migrants, with or without papers, are not coming here to fuck us over, but trying to merely find a better life, trying to escape poverty and or crime or even war.

These migrants are our fellow human beings. I am for keeping non violent individuals out absolutely. But America's prisons are full of an estimated 2 million, and it is mathematically impossible to claim all those are migrants without legal papers. The vast majority of criminals in America are those born here with legal status.

Japanese and German Americans, were arrested, harassed and interned.Their property was stolen and never given back to them even after the war ended. We even turned away a boat full of Jews from Cuba, which was parked in Cuba waiting to come here. It got turned back.

I would hope that, close to a century on and in this country, some nazi shit is just out-of-bounds and will never happen. No, I don't need them to be 100% accurate, but mass murder needs to be involved at the minimum for me to accept any nazi/Gestapo comparison. Otherwise its just insulting.

The gestapo was operating for years before gassings began.  I don't think we''ll ever quite get to gassings myself, but that doesn't make it any less accurate of a comparison.  It was created in 33, and the first gassing was with a small mobile van unit in 41.

But the Gestapo took 0 Time to start murdering Hitler's opposition in his own party in the night of the long knives.  They took 0 Time the ghettoize Jewish populations, to murder political opposition,  to fake a terrorist attack and start world war two, to enforce the banning of political parties, to destroy the German democracy, to murder the disabled, to destroy Jewish businesses. That was all done pretty quick after 33 when Hitler formed the Gestapo and long before gassing people started.

I'm all for criticizing Ice and Trump, but the Nazi comparisons have got to go. It's part of why the left keeps losing elections, because they keep calling pretty normal political opinions and the normal people who have them "Nazis " and guess what, people are not going to vote for someone who calls them, or their grandma a Nazi.

The Nazis get a bad rap because they were white people who killed other white people.  Meanwhile America was doing the same thing (but not as severe) to black people without any negative consequences.  And ever since WWII we have been going around the world killing assorted people like some homicidal maniac while oppressing our own citizens.

Yeah, I'd say the main feature of the Gestapo is mass murder. Otherwise why did you choose them as a comparison? The criteria you used to define the Gestapo could be used for every immigration organization in the world. But you chose the Gestapo of all things.

If you really believed they were like the Gestapo in any meaningful way, then you are morally corrupt for doing nothing meaningful about it. If I really thought our country had a Gestapo in it, I would be morally forced to oppose it with all my will and my physical being.

But of course you don't really believe that, just that the word Gestapo sounds really bad, so it's a good one to use against people you don't like.
