I haven't been to Haiti, but I did date a girl who had been there. She said she heard gunfire every night and needed body guards to go most places. I have been to Mississippi, and mostly it's fine. Doesn't compare to the third world, which I've also lived in, not even close. There are depressing welfare towns in the South that are shitholes. Or many inner cities.

But there are definitely places in the U.S. that are shitholes. The reason Norway doesn't have them is their Draconian immigration policy! The immigrant ghettos in France or Spain are definite shitholes.

Norwayophiles are the weirdest people, who have no idea the downsides to Norway, aside from the obviously horrendous weather. Also the idea that it's fine for Norwegians to call the US a shithole but not okay to call a shithole like Haiti a shithole is fucking insane.

It -is- fine for norwegians to call the US a shithole, and for americans to call haiti a shithole.  It's not fine..when your nations cheif diplomat is the one doing it.  This would be a problem even if it weren't indicative of the deep racist well at the bottom of the husk that sits in the oval. Surely we can recognize this as a problem, lol.  Other racist dirtbag presidents managed to maintain the dignity of their office if only so that it could be effective.

It's the presidents job -not- to say stupid shit like that...even when it's true.

I don't think calling a shithole country a shithole is a sign of racism. But liberals see everything Trump does as a sign of racism. I don't like Trump anymore than you guys, but I don't really see why the president is obliged to lie about the shitholiness of Haiti.

It's funny because when Trump lies (all the time) you guys jump on him and when he tells the truth it's pretty much the same reaction.

It's not always..but no one said it was.  In trumps case, ofc, his shithole comment was explicitly directed at haitians in reference to killing daca if it included haitians..and we know he doesn't like haitians, lol.  Part of an older and well established pattern of racist behavior, and..again..if you just can;t be bothered to care about the white supremacist in office...a plain old job fail.

Most of us would be fired from our jobs if we showed a fraction of the incompetence exhibited by POTUS.

I agree,that the issue is not, if he was being racist or even what was really be referred to. You can't say things like that; when you in that kind of position. And I would think that this would apply even more so, to those who brought this out of the close door meeting and into the public. " I would think that anyone in a lawmakers closed door meeting about policies should also be fully aware of this as well. I think that it's wrong to put this all on Trump.

When two tenured, prominent, respected members of congress from opposite sides of the aisle agree to the substance of comments made in a closed-door meeting, I see no reason to cast reasonable doubt on the substance of those comments.
