Rebellion against god

I don't know the insides of that story, whether he was set up to look cultish, or if he was just as the media presented. If that is the case he was certainly off the rails from Adventism, not unlike the many offshoots like the JW's.

I understand that your comment was intended to deal contempt, but I already know who holds you in bondage, while you think you are free.

You mean Satan? If yes, Satan in Job verses is presented as servant of God.

The kind of show on TV people are expecting will probably turn up, but how will they be able to tell if it is God and not an impostor like Satan?

That's pretty much what the Jewish leaders said about Christ.

Yep, if the goofy traveling preacher existed, he was definitely trying to steal their mojo.  Witch-doctors always diss any other witch-doctor trampling on their turf, and if they can get their followers to kill the imposter, even better. Watch out for false prophets!!! Only I have the truth!! Listen to them and die!  Believe me and the grand poobah in the sky won't punish you! Ooga booga hallelujah amen!

And there are hundreds of millions of Christians who think your particular version of the afterlife Jesus has planned for you is not only inaccurate but actually completely falsified. Hell, most of what you just said isn't even IN the Bible. It's wishful thinking by those who want to make sense of the nonsense.

At any rate, you wanna believe it, that's great. Have a wonderful life full of one-sided conversations and needless guilt.
The only thing I want to know is why you have to come here and keep telling us about how great it is?? Validated much??
If I loved quilting, I wouldn't go to a biker gang and tell them all how stupid they are because they don't want to be involved.

The problem with you people is that your salvation isn't just your salvation, it has to be everybody else's torment. It's tantamount to Maugham's quote, "It is not enough that I succeed, everyone else must fail."

All you christians LOVE the exclusivity of your religion, despite the fact that you can't agree on anything. In turn, that makes you appear deviant and untrustworthy
... but mostly it just makes you kind of a dick.

Well said.
I am not in favor of exclusivity, and or hierarchy, although it is probably inevitable on some level.
It is a social trait regardless of whether it involves a religion or a cast.
As for the many versions and opinions of the Bible - that's a given isn't it?

You've summed it up.

That's a high order Masonic teaching.

It took me literally ten seconds to fact check, but I did have the head start of knowing it was untrue to begin with. By the way, it's not "modern versions of the etymology that changed the idea"; it's just etymology. Note that the paragraph I quoted is dated 1902.

Yep, I noted the date thanks.

So if God put on a show - how would anyone be able to tell if it is actually God and not another power, like Satan who was the most powerful angel, and still has sufficient capacity to put on a show (which he will be allowed to do pretty soon)?

He is/was the product of your sect/schisms teachings. You need to own that.

And the programming continues to flow.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

Why in the world would you assume that a deity that showed up would call itself YHWH or Jehovah or Elohim or Jesus or Lucifer or Beelzebub? It's equally likely that it would call itself Ra, or Odin, or Zeus, or Brahma, or Ahura-Mazda, or Osiris, or Mithras, or KwanYin . . . (you know a female deity showing up could be lots of fun) . . . I mean, thousands of imaginary super-friends have been made up over thousands of years.  "Hi, I'm Shiva!!  Yes, you noticed that I'm blue, isn't that cool?  Hi, I'm Brainiac 5, here to solve all of your problems! One fantasy creature is just as likely as any other.

If god were really god you would know his perfection and  goodness  would radiate like suns rays.  And warm men to him like the sun warms flesh. And as the suns light melts snow as any doubt would be melted away. But this light could not be shaded no shadow no  hole not even depths of the earth could block this light. If god showed up . A real good perfect benevolent god then you would feel him . And like a man sitting by a warm hearth after a long day in the snow you would be love and embrace it.

If Satan showed pure evil pure malice pure hate .You would know his malevolence it would bite and sting like the coldest frost. It would cause men to flee from it seeking warmth .  It would cause men to shield and reject it's mere  presence. It would not lure men to icy death . But cause them to insulate themselves . And no heart no matter how dark could stand this cold this chill and they would plea for warmth . And then a good perfect benevolent god like the sun in spring would provide .
Seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy -- myself.
