RE: Why am I still worrying about coming out as atheist?
I think that vulcan doubts..as many of us do, that the love of knowledge will lead us down the tangled mess of spiderwebs between your ears.  Wink
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It doesn't really matter  Banging Head On Desk how many books someone read or how his-her intellect is great.
The thing is that the intellect is controlled by the pituary gland.
Intellectuals fail to understand that above the pituary gland lie the pineal gland which is a lot more powerful that the pituary one so it is obvious that an intellectual will never come up on top when arguing with someone who use intuition which lie in the pineal gland.  Lightbulb

So riks theism comes from not using his brain . Well that confirms it.
Seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy -- myself.

Holy sheep shit, this is big! Have you contacted the medical community? The NIH grant money would be endless.

I can't believe it dude. You are a Cartesian. I'm not saying this to criticize you or anything, but it's amazing to find someone this day and age saying that the pineal gland is the seat of the soul.

Do you know why Descartes thought that? It was a guess. He did an autopsy on a human brain (or perhaps studied the results of one carried out by another, IDK). But anyway, he concluded that the pineal gland must be the seat of consciousness because everything else in the brain came in pairs. Due to his own philosophical investigations, he concluded that the soul was a unified thing (ie. not in stereo) so, therefore, it seemed likely that the soul most likely contacted the material body via that gland.

Like I said, this was a guess. And not one scrap of evidence has been produced to prove his assertion. Unless you can produce some kind of evidence that the soul interacts with the body through the pineal gland, I'll have to say that materialism remains more plausible to me.
