Some of that materialism *may* be chalked up to some sort of Asperger's. Maybe because he had no clue how people related to each other, he could only see the very shell of human interaction. That's just a guess, though. I tend to think he was just a cunt because it makes me feel better.

Grade school girls can't say No when asked to dance
|
Most females can't even say no anyway for example aziz ansary scandal? So is this making it easier or harder?

Being told no isn't trauma. It's fucking life.

This kid seems to have had some issues to me, but I firmly believe some people are just bad, mean, evil little shits. Oh I do agree with that. Having a mental illness is no excuse to do evil things. People usually do evil things because they are bad people, mental illness or not.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

On the latter, I seriously doubt that the consensus of the mental health profession would agree with you. Anecdotally, my psychologist worked in the prison system for a number of years, and I guarantee she disagrees. Also anecdotally, I have had no problem refraining from the evil behavior (i.e. anti-social or harmful to self or others) I engaged in while ill now that I'm not. On the former, sure - people need to be held accountable, if for no other reason, but to keep the rest of us safe. RE: Grade school girls can't say No when asked to dance

If I'm wrong, correct me, because I know cake in general can be really emotional. Here's the thing, it's not traumatic. People don't claim it is. It's bigotry, which is vile. That said, I don't know why any gay or lesbian folks would want to buy a cake from people who are bigots. Take your business to someone who isn't a fucking joke. If you're not utterly insane, then you have some control over your actions. This kid surely did. He made a very calculated decision to do what he did. He's not excused. Is there a reason you quoted my post? Nothing you're saying here appears to address anything I said. I didn't say it was an excuse. I said precisely the opposite. I didn't mention "this kid at all". What I did say was CL's assertion, which appeared to me to be a hasty generalization.
Yes, it was addressing what you said. I related it to the topic of the thread because it's the topic of the thread, but I wasn't saying you thought mental illness was an excuse for him. I was just adding my thoughts as it pertained to this situation.
As in, she said mental illness isn't an excuse. You said, the mental health professionals you know would disagree (paraphrasing). I said, it's a reason for some people, but it's not an excuse. It follows from your comment. The rest of my post was just applying that opinion to the situation we're discussing. |
