No doubt the NRA handed him some talking points that he's parroting. Arming teachers has been bandied about as a "solution" to school gun massacres for years; now the gun manufacturers have someone in the White House who is willing to talk about this preposterous "solution".
Also, gaslighting the American public by saying we need to focus on mental health issues instead of gun control is another NRA talking point that is repeated by pro-gun politicians and pundits after high profile massacres, including Sandy Hook 5 years ago.

Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea for teachers to have guns, I mean, maybe it would help protect the students when there is another school shooting happening.

I'm surprised conservatives haven't just suggested Banning Schools. That's their next logical step I guess.

They don’t want to ban schools. They want to Ban the teaching of useful things at schools.

Arming teachers is perhaps the most insidious way yet devised to indoctrinate children in acceptability of guns for all situations and environments.

No. Real-life parent of a real-life student here. It would help to have fewer guns, not more. No fucking way will my kid's teachers have guns in her classroom. No way, and I'll make sure of that.

A crazy suggestion. Has a school shooting, or any mass shooting ever been stopped by a civilian shooting the person? Not that I can recall.
The cross fire would obviously make it a more dangerous situation, not a less one.

When I was 13 or 14, I was at a class with a very respected teacher... he got pissed off and threw the piece of chalk he was using to write on the blackboard straight at a student in the last row... he missed and hit the wall. The chalk evaporated on contact.
Give the man a gun!
