Yeah, like, maybe, when you've granted that people believe based on evidence. 

But equally the majority of people can also be wrong. This is why asset bubbles happen because people believe that 'prices can only ever go up' and 'it is different this time', followed by a huge bust.

You need to find other ways to determine if the common belief is correct or not. You cannot glean anything from numbers of believers alone.
