If anyone makes a mental health joke, they will be on my ignore.

Mentioning doctors, etc, subtly to mock the issue of my mental health, and I am not going to debate semantics.

My insanity has been my biggest evil, yet overcoming to many degrees and coping with it has been my greatest virtue.

Anyone makes any joke belittling any type of mental illness, will be on my ignore.

If you don't care, go ahead, do it.  But you will be on my ignore, I guarantee that.

Why do you assume that any joke about mental health is somehow an attack on people with mental health issues? I joke about a lot of things, and literally never does it mean that I have ill-will towards the subject of my joke.

This is something Ricky Gervais talks about a lot and I respect him for it. I think by instantly reacting to some topics with offense, without any context of why it would or would not be offensive, you force people to be dishonest when they don't have any reason to be, and you entrench the stigma around the topic. 

For example, this comment:

Two insane people walk into a bar to buy round trip tickets to Fiji.

Why is this offensive? Are we pretending that mental illness isn't a thing, or are you just knee-jerk reacting to a single word you heard?

I make cracks about mental illness, and I actually have the triple threat of OCD, depression, and an autism spectrum disorder. Maybe it's the fact that I know what I'm talking about (something TVTropes calls "N-word Privileges") and maybe it's because I've lived a messed-up life and I've come to see that life is a joke and its punchline is The Aristocrats, and all you can realistically expect to do to make it better is just laugh at it all (as the little paraphrase of Scaramouche in my signature might have clued you in on).

I guess people handle difficulties in life in different ways. Personally for myself, I don't joke about the difficult/tramatic issue I've been faced with, and am pretty easily triggered by it. But if someone else went through a similar thing and deals with it by being light hearted and humorous about it, that's their right and I'm glad they've found a way to cope that works for them.

I condemn myself and judge myself harshly for the onset and the prolonging of the illness.  I consider myself almost fully recovered from the illness despite the need of constantly taking medications. And I believe one day I will be completely healed of the affliction but still for protecting myself and guaranteeing safety, I will not stop taking medications.

That said, I'd rather be compassionately condemned for it, then mocked for it. I don't take it lightly, and part of it was the gloom of despair that almost destroyed me completely. I don't take it lightly when I see and know people who not only don't recover but kill themselves due to it.

Yeah dude, you aren't to blame for having depression. I have mild to moderate depression from the Bipolar Type 2 aspect of the Schizoaffective Disorder I have.

How could you be responsible? You certainly didn't design your own brain or DNA!
