Share your protocol for having a cold

RE: Share your protocol for having a cold
I once took Nyquil so much during a cold when I was in high school I became immune to it lol

My secret is work in a daycare for five years with dirty, sickly children then work in a bank for five years with dirty gross money. I have an iron immune system now. I don't get sick. I'm all about dirt doesn't hurt. I don't have bleach, Lysol, disinfectant, or any of the stuff in my house. The more germs you are exposed to the stronger your immune system is. Granted you are sick as hell at the beginning but it is worth it to be sick only once every 3 or 4 years after that. The first week at daycare job I was throwing up, feverish, diarrhea, the whole shebang. I know since then I've been sick in 2012 with a fever and I had a bad cold while 9 months pregnant just recently but I blame that on my body already doing so much other stuff. Now that Charlie is born I don't keep germs away from her to help build her immune system up.

Immunity to specific things only lasts so long. Say Tibs gets the flu and then I get it, he's not likely to catch it back from me, but he's not going to have the same immune system boost next year (and it will be a different virus anyway). We don't go insanely crazy, but if I've got shit to do and he's sick, I'm damn sure going to try to keep that shit the fuck out of me.

It was Fourth of July, and Tibs had given me the death cold, which he was getting over. We had two parties to attend, fireworks, etc. I felt like utter shit. We got home and he put me to bed. I was colder than I'd ever been in my entire life. Nothing could warm me. I made him pile on all of the blankets from the closet. Then, I begged for him to add our bathrobes. It was insane. So, he made me take NyQuil. I fell asleep 20 minutes later and have worshiped at the altar of NyQuil ever since. I haven't had to take it since, but I still think it's the bee's knees.

Wow, that sucks. Thankfully I haven't had a fever since I was a kid.

It was so fucked up. I hated that day. I had a house full of family staying with me too. I was careful to wipe everything I touched and managed not to pass it to any of them. Win.

RE: Share your protocol for having a cold
I’ve been going through a bad one lately myself (one that’s been going on for almost a week, a bit more than that If you count the earlier, briefer bout that came before.) Here’s what I do:

Take multi-symptom cold Tylenol every four hours. Take Chlorsaseptic lozenges every two hours. Take a Mucinex DM every twelve hours. In the meantime, take Ludens’ cough drops. Meanwhile, drink plenty of fluids and rest, rest, REST, because when you have a nasty virus like this, there’s really fuck all you can do but wait. And, yes, that does suck.

Yeah im not one to be constsntly washing my hands either (only after bathroom and before food), and I only use disinfectant wipes to clean the house as usual because I like a clean house. I don't use it to wipe everything down when someone else is sick or anything.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I'm the complete opposite of both of you. I use hand sanitizer and soap every minute of every day almost. But my white blood cell count is, like, 2, so I guess it's a little different.

Well yeah if you are actually sick, have a compromised immune system, etc you'd be silly not to keep everything clean. I'm only pushing dirt don't hurt on those that have no big health issues.
