There is even development in the grape picking industry, with robots able to tirelessly trundle through the rows of grapevines, picking the properly ripe ones. One picker can replace many workers.
When the presence of humans no longer adds value to most manufacturing process at all but rather subtracts value. Woe betide those who even now believe their birth in the country entitled them to employment in a perpetual 1960 manufacturing base. I expect we are within 10 years of that point.
What is more, other countries, including China, will arrive there at the same time as or earlier than we.
Trumpian policies only makes that day of reckoning even more painful.
