The Chinese have reached to the bluest states like California offering trade concessions and regulatorily collaborative programs just to thwart such a move.

Lots of left wing people in America are not. I.e. the bernie Sanders type crowd. There have always been pro-protectionists. Also because I never heard Min specifically say anything about it until Trump. I sort of recall him saying some protectionist stuff actually, but I can't remember exactly.

Also when Bernie was in the primaries, I can't recall a group of people on here saying that he was going to start a trade war. Although to be fair, this place was super annoying around election time, and I wasn't on here much.

You don't have the slightest understanding of why I dismiss libertarians as crackpots.  It is no longer 1830.  You cannot run a modern state as if it were an agrarian society on the frontier.  Something can be a nice idea and still be totally impractical.  You cannot run a modern state....especially one which still has pretensions of being a major world power...on the basis of fucking insanity like this:

The Libertarian Party is fundamentally opposed to the use of force to coerce people into doing anything. We think it is inherently wrong and should have no role in a civilized society.

Thus we think that government forcing people to pay taxes is inherently wrong.

People expect airports and harbors and rail systems and highways and that famous military that you all love so much with its shiny new toys.  Libertarianism is rich motherfuckers who think they can ride roughshod over the poor while they live like French aristocrats.

I;m foolishly optimistic..but I think we can turn it around.  I don;t think we'll ever regain our former position or status, but a respectable downgrade like the UK's is well within our reach...unless we keep screwing the pooch.  I'd hate to see the us go through it;s own version of the immediate postwar period.
