You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence. 
It's disgusting, but unfortunately not surprising. We have seen this before and will continue to see it so long as Christian assholes have a platform to send this type of bullshit out into the world. It's their right to do so, but wow. Being able to do something and knowing whether or not you should do it are two different things entirely. Apparently these morons don't understand the difference. No manners.
