So, Brits. How's Brexit Going?

It's generally not a good idea to hope that the people who caused the problem are the ones to fix it.

I admit ignorance, but I'm under the impression that the Tory government caused the problem, not parliament...

The opposition party (Labour) hasn't been opposed to Brexit so there's no one to vote for to stop it. Not all Tories are euro-sceptics, same as not all labour politicians are remainers.

Labour are pushing for another general election, but they aren't even saying that if voted in that they would cancel Brexit. So why anyone would vote for them I don't know. They have even been hesitant about allowing a second referendum. Their hand is being forced by grass roots activists.

After long and serious consideration, I think we should replace all our politicians with gibbons, they could not be any worse and will probably be more entertaining. Argue

Sadly, the US is one ahead of you on this.

Exactly. Lots of people voted as a protest not expecting Brexit to happen. Many more voted because the referendum was rigged. And by that I mean passed off as an advisory referendum rather than binding which meant that the rules were less strict and people didn't have to know what they were voting for. Add to that spending limits were flouted by the Leave campaign, the role of Cambridge Analytica and Russia and people now know that they were lied to.

Yeah sure call Brits idiotic for falling for the lies, but don't fucking sit there calling us idiotic for trying to fix a successful coup and subversion of the democratic process by monied interests when it's not even your country on the verge of collapse.

Hey!   That is a scurrilous lie!   Whose country are you accusing of nor being on the verge of collapse?

Deal shot down, and motion of no confidence on the table.

The third act was runnin a bit stale, but now interesting times lie ahead.

As an American, the rational part of me would like to see Britain choose to remain in the EU. You know, stability and whatnot. No major waves.
The Mad Scientist in me wants to see what happens when Britain goes crashing out of the EU with no agreements in place. This makes me think that maybe I really am a very bad person. But I am intensely curious to see how a no deal Brexit would play out. I'm not hoping for it, though. If a no deal Brexit really will be a horribly traumatic event for the British people, I certainly don't want them to go through that just so that my curiosity can be satisfied.

They have had over 2 years to sort this out, now just a few weeks from the deadline they still have no idea what they are going to do.
These idiots couldn't organise an orgy in a brothel!

I don't know if it is a matter of organizing. The EU can't reward the UK by giving the UK favorable terms. The UK can't accept unfavorable terms. They're trapped.

UK declared its intention to commit suicide and wishes to extract from EU a guaranty that the suicide will be successful and the UK will emerge unscathed from it.

But some in UK suggest being dead after suicide is better than being Alive after the suicide.

EU said suicide is suicide.

Johnson’s resignation comes amid outrage from anti-European U.K. officials who are angered by the “Brexit” plan adopted by Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May.

As someone once noted:  Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse.

Of course, when you add grandstanding politicians into the mix it can really fuck things up.

yeah what a mess it is to have the government follow the will of the voting citizens in that country.. yes I'm sure it would be easier for the leaders if they all had the totalitarian control you yourself have been caught calling for. F that, the leadership of that country like any other should follow the will of the people, and if the leadership finds it's self hindering the process they should step down and get out of the way of the will of the people.

A mess yes but so what, if it is you job to do the will of the people, then shut your pudding and tea hole and do your job!!! (and it wouldn't hurt if one could do said job without wearing a dress/kilt.
