Peterson's 12 Rules For Life, have you heard of this?

Don't bother Rye he will insist you have to consider a hand full of fanatics as your own or it's not a true Scotsman even thou the distinctions are clear as day

One of the great arguments these time-wasters in our country use is, "It's 2018”. Stating the year apparently validates their arguments. I wish I could think of a way of turning that against them...

But the fact is that there as many manipulative and annoying people with left-leaning politics as right-- not because of the nature of those ideologies, but because of the nature of people.  It doesn't really matter whether they are PC Left ™-- they are using the ideology of the left in extreme, unpleasant and unproductive ways.

Peterson always talks about the Leftist nutjobs as "Extremist," by which he means not to include the left, in general, in his objections.
Pretty sure we've already been down every single road on these questions.

I don't think that you're particularly adept at picking out the difference between nutballs, rightwing propaganda, and social justice issues.

You look to the first to reenforce the second as an argument against the third.  Your idea of extremism in social justice is a slow moving trainwreck of white anxiety, worried that the once oppressed will attempt to become oppressors, worried that people will think that you're a racist for being white, worried that your business will suffer, somehow.

This is certainly what rightwing trash would have people believe..because it helps them to delay the moment when they can no longer set people against each other as a distraction from their incessant grift.

Tell me what part of any of this;

Quote:Social justice is a concept of fair and just relations between the individual and society. This is measured by the explicit and tacit terms for the distribution of wealth, opportunities for personal activity, and social privileges. In Western as well as in older Asian cultures, the concept of social justice has often referred to the process of ensuring that individuals fulfill their societal roles and receive what was their due from society.[1][2][3] In the current global grassroots movements for social justice, the emphasis has been on the breaking of barriers for social mobility, the creation of safety nets and economic justice.[4][5][6][7][8]

would bother you..taken to the extreme? Extreme social mobility? Extreme safety nets? Extreme economic justice? If I had to guess..none of it. None of it would bother you. I bet you even think that they're all good ideas. Everyone should be able to move up in the world. Everyone should only be allowed to fall so far, and we should all get a decent wage for work done.

I’m late to the party but as for rule 1, fuck standing with my shoulders back. I might as well wear a sign that says “I have boobs here they are!” With an arrow.

If you stand with your shoulders back, and push those things up and out..that probably means you're at least a little culpable for sexual assault, part and parcel of your desire to be brutally dominated by men.

So sayeth the gospel of peterson.

Ah, no... he's only talking to men. He doesn't actually state this explicitly, but it becomes exceedingly obvious to anyone paying attention while reading. And he has a particular target audience carved out within men, too.

That is the correct answer, from Peterson's perspective!

For those late to the party, what this book actually contains is conservative Christian preaching and incel-leaning "philosophy", crudely hidden within the guise of a self-help book.

PS: the camouflage he uses actually works quite well since most people (even his disciples) don't seem to actually read the book, but rather comment that the "12 rules" are fairly decent advice.

Peterson has some good ideas when it comes to personal responsibility. He also has some interesting ideas about psychology... Beyond that he tends to veer off into the field of horseshit. He's insanely disingenuous any time he discusses religion or god, which is annoying.

I do appreciate the sort of "pull yourself up by the bootstraps and fix your life" type of stuff because many, many more people could benefit from some serious self-reflection than currently realize it.

Peterson has some good ideas but the religious shit is just too much for me. I think he wrote a decent self-help book. He might even be an interesting professor to have. That's about it.
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.
