It is scary how hypnotic Beetrootson is to the right audience. My brother is totally on the hook too. I don't live nearby to him anymore, but my other brother tells me he's become unbearable with conspiracy bulllshit and transgender nonsense.

It feels very akin to religion, you either buy it wholesale or you see through it immediately. His fans find a way to defend everything he says, however ridiculous. Being a psychologist he knows exactly how to appeal to the right audience, and it's making him rich. I'm still not sure how much of it is in act. I suspect it's an exaggerated version of his own beliefs, tailored for maximized profit.

I don't think you have been.  I think you've perceived things in this way.  The left has not aligned itself against you...you are a nobody.

Quote:Although, I frankly don't see them as the left, because when ideas are forced to be accepted at the point of social consequence, we're talking about a fascism of the left, not the supportive, loving laborers that I grew up knowing as democrats.
Are we talking about the facism of the left..even..a novel concept on it's face..or just a few assholes?

Quote:Because it's a pointless and valueless endeavor, and I shouldn't have done it.
No argument from me on those points..but I don't think that answers the meat of the question.

Quote:I didn't say that many left wing people aren't sincere about their politics.  I'm saying that if I pretend to identify with identity-based politics of the kind we're talking about, "I" would be insincere and dishonest.
You keep talking about identity politics..but is it at all possible that you've deceived yourself, and are..in fact, the only person engaged in identity politics in any of the particulars of this conversation?

Quote:I know what I like and dislike, and how I want to live.  That's my political position.  Fuck the college PC crowd for covering their incompetency in PC dogma.  And fuck the American right for putting a fucking orangutan in the office of the president.
You espouse political ideologies far beyond your likes and dislikes with some regularity.

Quote:No, I don't think that nor did I say it.  I think that if I were to involve myself in left wing identity politics, which I care little about except when it inconveniences me-- if I were to INVEST myself in those ideas and causes in order not to be called a dick, then that would bring MY personal growth to a screeching halt.  I have way more on my plate than I can handle, and I pump out achievements that make me happy for about an hour before I go the next item on my list.  That's my "way of the warrior."

You keep talking about this thing...but......

In my contact with people whose world views reflect those expressed in general by the PC left, that has been my experience of things. That I can identify the tenets of their world view easily, and see them reflected here and elsewhere, is sufficient for me to conclude that the left is sufficiently homogeneous to be thought of as an entity.

As for me being a nobody-- well, that idea bothers me very little. But I have the illusion of agency, and when I'm interacting with these people, I find the experience unpleasant and unprofitable-- financially, emotionally, intellectually, pretty much by every metric of evaluating interpersonal relationships.

Quote:Are we talking about the facism of the left..even..a novel concept on it's face..or just a few assholes?
Oh, absolutely we're talking about the fascism of the left. But by that I don't mean that the left are all fascists, only that 1) I don't really think the cultural appropriation and the ze/zir assholes and so on actually do represent the left; 2) This subculture clearly intends to use annoyance and feigned outrage to prevent people from either stating simple truths as facts, or from attempting a dialog on issues that they've unilaterally decide are open and shut cases.

In other words, it's a subculture which expresses traditionally leftist memes, but with a level of aggression and intolerance that I can only really see in full-on fascist ideologies. I embrace homosexuality as an expression of personal liberty, for example. I absolutely refuse, however, to be told how I am allowed to think or to express my thoughts, with regard to gender issues.

I'd liken the relationship between leftist fascists (as I call them) and the normal sane left much like I'd liken the relationship between terrorist bombers and the normal sane Muslims. The former cannot exist without the base provided by the latter, and the latter, in turn, have very little interest in stepping up and restraining the actions of the former.

Quote:You keep talking about identity politics..but is it at all possible that you've deceived yourself, and are..in fact, the only person engaged in identity politics in any of the particulars of this conversation?
No, I don't think so. When I have a black employee pull the race card to get out of contract obligations, or to elevate simple complaints to serious headaches, then I'd say this person is making an implied threat: that if someone of my ID attempts to argue in any regard with someone of their ID, I'm going to be have to taught a lesson-- and this lesson will come in an inappropriate form-- shouting in front of customers and so on.

That I will tell my stories of woe and have you saying things like "Awww man. . . so hard to be a white man!" then I can see pretty clearly that the ID categories are real, and that there are prejudices in place which determine how they should interact.

It's a word that's pretty new to me-- if I'm using it wrongly, I'll have to spend more time with it. If I'm doing it, then that doesn't really matter much to me.

I'm not really to worried about the terminology. The fact is that there are identifiable groups who express world views hostile to mine, and that various types of attempts on my part to interact with members of these groups have been unproductive, annoying, and sometimes downright tilting.

I don't really mind being a hypocrite. I don't much care if someone else feels I'm expressing white male identity politics, for example. What I care about is living my life as unfettered as possible from other people's bullshit. If they decide that I'M in the wrong and to be avoided, then so much for the better, methinks.

Nobody is out to get you on account of your being a white male.  I can't reduce my thoughts on how you perceive the world to anything simpler or more succinct than that.

Have I argued that anyone is out to get me? That doesn't sound like something I would say. You seem to have a lot of ideas about my views or motivations which I don't share. You should read less between the lines, and more from them, because I don't really think I'm speaking ambiguously, here-- you started off with anxiety, then insecurity, and now a persecution complex-- are we moving toward a full identity disorder, here? Are you going to accuse me of secretly worrying that I'm not a pretty pretty princess, or that I'm gay and don't want to admit it? I don't feel persecuted-- mainly I feel annoyed that people think they can get away with this shit, and reasonably often try to, and that there's always a risk that some jerkoff with a card to play will destabilize the business which I've worked so hard to build up.

Isn't it just possible that I think these people are entitled people of low moral character, and that they are gaming whatever memes or social constructs they can to dodge responsibility, and feed off proxy power when they don't have the discipline, the intelligence, or the personal character to claim real power of their own?

Is there some other way to contextualize your perception that leftists are hostile to your identity?

It certainly is..but if that is the case..then how would their actions support your perception of a pc left hostile to your identity? Can you see how this is imploding in on itself like a dying star?

Perfect springboard..so I'll get this out.

I have a similar appraisal of Peterson and his ideology.  He makes much ado about the marxists coming to get him, coming to get all of us..in fact.  Simultaneously, he tells groups discriminated against that it is just them, and that they should improve themselves.

The doctor might need a dose of his own medicine..and it's not so much hypocrisy..as that would imply that his dickishness was a response to theirs..as it is him being a dick and then rationalizing his own shortcomings as the sole party to a melodrama occurring between his ears.

I'd argue that the PC left (and I'm not talking about the politically left who support workers' rights, choice about abortion, and so on, but the meme-mongers specifically of PC), are ALL morally weak, and that in their weakness, they gravitate toward a world view that not only provides them with a convenient scapegoat, but which re-frames cowardice as bravery, increasing the great pleasure they take in smelling their own farts.

I might even argue that the hostility is intrinsic to the PC left because they DEFINE themselves in terms of their supposed oppression of the big bad white man.  Bad grades?  Fucking white guys.  Can't hold a job?  The system is rigged by the patriarchy.  Don't have a doctor's note, because you were out having dinner with friends when you claimed to be sick?  Asking where I've been is an ongoing infringement of my civil liberties by the Fucking Man.

Take away that target, and what's left?  Just a bunch of intellectual mediocrities with little ambition and less ability, and their intense discomfort with mirrors.
